If it's a hardware failure, any solutions like formatting or updating
will be very temporary. Generally the only solution to hardware failure
is replacing whatever has failed. Sometimes this is just a part (such as
the battery or storage) and sometimes this unfortunately means the whole
player needs to be replaced. Hopefully though it won't be that bad.
