Further info:

THis seems to be due to the default While Playing Screen theme/skin since
switching this screen to 'Rockboxed' avoid this effect.

But not this one.

I'd be interested to know: has anyone used Rockbox on any device with
320kbpos WMA and NOT got this problem? Thanks.
