It was chosen by the guy who designed the algorithm, I just implemented
it in C and assembler for use in Rockbox and never really questioned it.
Making it configurable would be all good, I guess, but the assembler
routines
are already _very_ tight on registers and introducing further parameters
will
slow them down a fair deal. Not that I think this is a final argument
against
implementing such a change, of course :)
