I wrote a patch to support the iRiver's remote :

I've been runing it on my box for 2 weeks without a crash (but you
never know if it's 100% bug-free :P)

Note that it's not the approach that Xavier and firefly took (I'm not
duplicating the calls to lcd_* into lcd_remote_* )
