Do you plan on using the EPIC core for DSP stuff? If not, do you think
we can manage without it?

The DEBUG macro is only used on the Archos targets, or rather those who
have a serial GDB debug stub. On the other platforms, we use the
simulator with GDB and/or the logf() function.
