Crt0 does all kinds of evil stuff to the registers.
I mustn't change anything...

BTW, the preloader uses a byte transfer (like i2c-coldfire.c device #2)
instead of serial scl/sda.

Why don't you use the pcf50606 driver that is in the Rockbox bootloader?
That bootloader is designed to dual-boot, it does that on the iriver.
