My nano user guide says hold play/pause to turn off the iPod.> Menu +> Select is to reboot, which it does perfectly.Sorry, i misuderstood you. If you hold play for 2 sec., you iPod will go in a "standby" state. And when you press a button or turn hold on then off, it will continue, in the Apple firmware, in the exact menu plying the exact same song as when you "standbyed" it. Furthermore, after some time, i think it's 12 hours, it will go into a "deep sleep", which is like a hibernation on windows. It takes more time to start up, but it still starts in the apple firmware like when you start it from standby.

Are you sure you've got the latest firmware? If yes, check apple's homepage, and if that don't fix it, i't really a very strange error!
