I disagree. If we extract and bring forward some of the best or perhaps most
debated patches for this POTW discussion, it would bring attention to
this/them in a way the existing process doesn't.

I know I would pay attention to POTW patches, while I hardly ever look at the
stream of patches. I think there mere fact that someone puts in some work to
select a few "important enough" ones is the deciding factor for me personally.

Besides, if the idea doesn't work out fine we can always just scrap it.
