I see a significant amount more of this feature has been committed. When
exactly did it overcome the barrier of quite a few people objecting to it?
Didn't we have a relatively recent discussion about how if a decent
number of committers objected to a feature (as was the case with this
one) that a certain number of contributors would have to speak for it
before it would go in? Did this happen?
