I built the sim the other day (shortly after the -fPIC changes), using gcc 4.5.2
from the mingw-gcc-core package in Cygwin, and that worked fine. tools/configure
needs some changes (which I mailed about recently), and you need to specify the
CC to use if/when building SDL.
