Both attached files work fine using r29209.

actually the 20kbps file can be played, but the perfemance is not good.
when i play the 20kbps file with media player, everything is ok.

Is there any bug of playing low bitrate wma files ?

I don’t think its the bitrate, rather that ASF file seems to parse badly in Rockbox. It actually doesn’t quite parse right in VLC either, but we do a lot worse. I’ll put it on my todo list, but in the mean time I bet you could fix such a file by decoding the ASF stream (but not the WMA data) and putting it back into a new ASF file. Unfortunately, I’m at a loss for an easy tool to do this losslessly.

hi michael,
thanks for you reply.

when testing ,i print some debug msgs. in wmadeci.c ,line 1174.
ptr sometimes equal to eptr .

what does it mean?when playing other higher bitrate media files ,i will not see this kind of debug msg.

Hello! I love the tool, but only yesterday I found out that it is not able to play wma files having bitrate = 20kbps.

Can i request the dev/screen team to bump the severity of this bug? I would love love to play those files with rockbox and can not go back to ipod’s os to play those as these songs have not been transferred using itunes or anyother ipod compliant method(although i am not sure if ipod’s firmware is gonna play them.. i really doubt that too).

Regards
Sumit

Hi.

As i said above, 20kps files work fine, the problem with the above file was the ASF container, not the WMA bitstream. If you can post your file it would be interesting to look at.

Attaching the file. Please check.

Hello Michael, any updates? were you able to look at the file?
