FS#11074 - Static noise during playback of mp3 with D2 Sim

Cowon D2 Simulator; r24777-100219. (don't have a real DAP to test with)

EAC secure mode (Rip application)
Mp3 LAME @ –aps (encoder)

There's a "low-Fi" static type noise evident during playback of all my mp3 files with the Cowon D2 Simulator, sounds like the background noise you get when one plays shoddy Vinyl LP's.

I don't get this on the same HiFi with the same files when playing back with VLC media player or Windows Media Player from the same notebook pc.

I have also plugged my H140 into the same HiFi, played the same mp3 files with "clear" sound.

I haven't tested other codec formats as I don't have music in other formats.

Do any other rockbox simulators work on your notebook pc? I would be surprised if this is a Cowon D2 problem, as you have stated, as it is much more likely to be a 'rockbox simulators on your notebook pc don't work properly' problem. E.g. try using the H140 simulator on your notebook pc and see what happens.
Also, to advise, you will need to tell us what operating system you are using on your notebook when running the rockbox simulators (and there may be more questions later depending on your answer to that). Also where did you get the simulators from (did you compile them yourself, did you download them from somewhere [if so where], etc).

For comparison, are you using r24777 on your H140 too? You didn't state which build of rockbox was on your H140. For a fair comparison, the simulator and the H140 need to be running the same version, to identify whether there is a bug in *that* build of rockbox. Maybe r24777 has a bug but a different build is running on your H140 so you don't experience the bug.

Finally, r24777 is rather old now, can you try a more recent build and see if the problem persists?

Ok, abandoned. At a guess, this is a PC simulator problem, not a D2 problem, but no information to proceed.
