FS#12236 - Cover art does not change when using playlist

After upgrading my 1st generation iPod Nano from Rockbox 3.6 to 3.9 the cover art display does not seem to be working consistently.

When using a playlist the first track will always show the correct cover art, but any tracks after that will continue to show the first track's cover. This also happens if I skip forward or backward between tracks in the playlist.

If I manually select a file to play the correct cover will show, and if I manually select another track during the play-back of the first the cover art will change to the new track.

I have also tried this with current build r30334 (2011-08-20T13:14:30) with the same results.

Works fine for my usecase (=m3u created from a single folder through rockbox, embedded album art, MP3, iPod nano 2G sim),

Can you gove more details about your exact usecase?

I have a multi-directory collection with a combination of mp3, ogg vorbis, and flac files. None of the cover art is embedded.

On further use of the iPod it seems that if I let the playlist go continue on uninterrupted the cover art will not change from the first album cover. If I then skip to the next or previous track the album cover art will not change, but if I then advance or skip back one more track the cover art often change.

When you say you are using a playlist, did you create a m3u-playlist and play it? Or are you just playing a playlist that rockbox internally creates, e.g. when browsing and playing from the database.
You say multi-directory collection. Do you have only one coverart per folder (How is this named)? Or do you have several cover arts per directory (How are those named)?

In my case I am using a playlist the rockbox creates internally (on the fly) by me navigating to the database and choosing a track. I have the player set for random and it'll just work its way through my collection.

Upon checking, not all directories have cover art, but for the ones that don't Rockbox still will show the first album's cover instead of a place-holder.

For the directories with cover art, each one has only one cover.bmp file that is 130x130px at 16-bit colour depth. These were downloaded once upon a time by RockAA which makes all the files 130x130px.

All the directories on my iPod are sorted by the artist's name, and then with-in each of the artist folders may be multiple folders, each for one of their albums.
