Details

When entering Sound settings with speech enabled, and entering into balance, bass or treble settings, I have experienced several times that the player starts reading all voice clips in a row.
I have found no way to interrupt this, except from turning off the unit and restart it again.
I don't know why this happens, though.

Does your voice file work normally elsewhere? With recent changes to the language system, older voice files don't function properly.

The same thing has happened occasionally elsewhere too.
I forgot to mention that I am using the daily build from March 31st, with the cvs version of AT&T Crystal, US English.
Except from the voice beginning to read out everything now and then, it seems like most things are working pretty well.
I am new to Rockbox, and generally I am really impressed hbout how well it is working on my two iRiver H140 units.

Unfortunately, voice is difficult to manage when modifying sound settings, because the pcm buffer is set to low latency mode which means that there is ~1/4 second of decoded audio available with which to mix audio data. This low latency mode is probably what triggers this rather odd bug.

If I attempt to use the sound settings screen while playing audio, no menu items but the first ("Volume") are announced. This makes sense given the low latency mode. Is there any possibility that there can be a setting to disable use of the low latency mode? While this would not be useful to most people, at present, the sound settings screen won't voice at all during playback, which is a bit of a nuisance for those of us who depend primarily on the voice UI. Also, how much latency would be incurred when changing sound settings with the low latency mode disabled?

I never had the reading of many unrelated voice clips problem on the sound settings screen, but recently experienced it elsewhere. This appears to be fixed for me in the recent rework of the voice UI in cvs, so try a cvs build and see if it behaves.

I have not noticed this problem on more recent builds, so most likely it has been fixed.
