When i select the following options in text viewer on my ipod mini:
Word wrap = On
Line Mode = Join Lines

The text shown is:
The Project Gutenberg Eboo
of The War of the Worlds,

or the use of anyone anywh

With the options set like this:
Word wrap = On
Line Mode = Normal

The text shown is:
The Project Gutenberg Ebook
of The War of the Worlds, by

anyone anywhere at no cost
[...]

I'm using 20060725-2125 build.

Well, i found this problem with these fonts: "rockfont-8", "proportional", "atadore". With the default (and "courB08" too) font this bug doesn't appear. Can be the fonts the problem? Why?

Interesting. Would it be possible to attach the first sentences of the book to this bug report, so I can repeat it on my system?
