FS#5763 - Incorrect battery estimates
As far as the battery <i>usage</i> is considered, I believe that to be a problem with the OS being stored on the physical disk, having to spin from that all the time runs down the disk as opposed to a low power ROM. Dont kill me if this is old news.
Main issue is that on my ipod video, the battery estimates are way way WAY to high. I have lowered the mah to 1300 (lowest supported) and the estimates still are too high. Maybe change it so lower mah can be supported?
(dont kill me if the html comes out html-ish)

Couple
The retail iPod OS is also loaded from the HD, just like ours. The vast majority of Rockbox lives constantly in RAM
The iPod battery is actually less than 1300mah, I believe. As well, getting the estimates right is VERY definitely not a priority since they will change greatly as we start tackling the battery life problem (once the real causes are identified, most likely how little anyone knows about the PortalPlayer chips)
I guess you learn things every day (i feel like an idiot)
and i just love this project and everything that goes in/out of it. now i can really be proud to own an ipod cuz it doesnt look like apple crap.
great job everyone and keep it up!!!!!!!
