FS#5902 - Random snippets of other songs playing in the middle of MP3s
When copy mp3s to my ipod with ubuntu I get weird random little snippets of other song playing in the middle of MP3s.
My Ipod is a 4th generation gray 20Gb windows formated Ipod
The mp3 I wish to play are in 192 kbps format.
I am using the 08272006 build of rockbox, this issue occured in older versions too.
This is exactly what I am doing:
1) rip the mp3 to my home directory
2) view the mp3 with Audacity, the song looks and sound fine.
3) copy the mp3 to my ipod via USB cable
4) view the mp3 on ipod with with Audacity, the song now has a 5 second podcast snippet in the middle.

Very unlikely to be a Rockbox bug.

This has nothing to do with Rockbox. It's either a bug in the Ipod firmware, or in Ubuntu.
Thank you for the quick reply bacon_boy.

Where should I look or what should I do to resolution for this issue?
I honestly do not know, but since Rockbox doesn't even handle the USB connection for Ipods (it simply reboots into the Original Firmware/Disk mode), there is no way this is Rockbox-related.
You should check your log for error messages because I am sure there will be. Things to try,
1: Do an fsck.vfat on the drive.
2: Log out of gnome and go to one of the consoles (alt + ctrl f1). Now mount the ipod by hand and use cp to copy the file(s). Now umount and remount and check if the problem has happened again.
I used a 4gig nano for a while before I gave it away and had no such problems under linux.
