As of now, file name extensions are shown (or not) based on the option "Show files" (All/Supported/etc.) This patch introduces an explicit setting for this.

I read about this in irc logs and liked the idea. The patch is really simple. It can be included without any side effects. But if the RB developers are not excited about this feature I wouldn't insist that it MUST be included.

fine fine...

It would however be nice to have 3 options iso two:
- always hidden
- always shown
- hide known (current behaviour & make this default)

otherwise I'm all for this one...

Sounds really good to me as well.

@petur: what do you mean by "hide known"? Always hide the exts for the files of "known" types? Even if the file filter is set to "Show All"? So that some files are shown with and some without extensions? For the filters "music" and "supported" this would hide the exts for all shown files. But in the case of "All" this wouldn't be exactly the same as the current behaviour.
