FS#7672 - Volume gets louder then power cut. Battery shows no charge, but is ok.
iRiver H10 20Gb
Using the player as per normal, no interaction at all and within about 10-20min of playing the volume gets louder and louder and louder, then the power cuts out showing no battery life. Turn the player back on immediately and reports no battery life and powers straight off. Either I let it sit for a few min or use the reset switch a couple of times it will then power on and continue to play.
This only happens on the Rockbox software, iRiver software works 100%. Battery life is fine, no dramas. The battery is reported at 1550mAh.

I have the same problem, however ive never had the player power off, the volume just gets progressively louder… Even if the hold button is on. I was in chat discussing the problem and someone told me that the rockboxed iriver performs badly when the battery is low. Regardless, this is a serious annoyance.
Same here. However, the symptoms are a little different. I first noticed this issue when I plugged my H10 in to get it charging (via USB), because it was flat, but it ends up that it started at ‘40’ and counted down to 0, and then it appeared to start charging. It got up to 60-70 before it appeared to stop charging. Rebooted it, and it refused to boot due to low battery. It doesn’t appear to be charging anymore.
Left for a while charging, then proceeded to use it. But the volume kept on going up, it was uncontrollable.
I only noticed this yesterday, I updated it not 3 days ago. I think that the builds following July onwards might have this issue, but I can’t be sure.
Actually, I just tried my H10 with a build from February this year. Same symptom.
Damaged hardware? corrupt partition?
In any case, ONLY the OF will charge it. Rockbox appears to discharge it still.
I haven’t been able to reproduce this since sometime earlier this year. On those occasions, I think the player overheated and produced these symptoms.
I’m using the daily build from the 8th of August 2008 currently, and it doesn’t show this problem.

It happened to me during the Christmas hollidays with a build from this fall.
I’ve had this problem for a while now, but it seems to have increased lately. Just about every time I use my player, I get this problem (even after a full charge). I wouldn’t mind it as much if the volume didn’t rise all the way–that is so annoying!
In the past, this problem was increased when I charged the player via usb, but now I get this problem every time no matter how I charge it.
I don’t suppose this fixed itself has it?

It’s been a while since I had that problem… Indeed, I think it did not happened since my last comment. The player ran out of battery while playing once or twice since then, without the problem. I’m using a build from last week.
