Same problem for me. Rockbox on my X5L freezes frequently. Example : when updating database and navigating in the options.

hi, can you see my bug report: 8459

maybe you’re doing the same thing i describe there to get the crash/hang.

or just see if yours will hang as I have described and comment my bug report if so.

Thanks.

Edit : happens even with default theme.

All I have to do is pressing : next song , next song , next song ….. (BOOM!)

try it

I tried it, I wasn’t able to get mine to lock up or crash. It did go into a weird mode where it would’t display current bitrate and song position info(time counter/progress bar). It still played the song though. But I was able to clear that condition by doing a stop (long play) and resume(play). I never got a freeze/crash.

I tried it with the default theme and a custom theme with the same results.

Thats a good way to chew up your battery though, working out the hard drive. :)

I don’t tend to skip tracks that quickly under normal circumstances, i usually just browse the file list or playlist to skip ahead multiple tracks.

I do agree though that it should handle that situation better, like maybe have a short delay(in the code) in which it waits to see if you pressed next again before actually trying to play the next track. Just a matter of milliseconds though, not a long delay. then it could see that you had pressed it 6 times and go ahead to that track before attempting to actually play it.

NOW I KNOW :

It happens only with CROSSFADE turned ON [crossfade type : always ]

Can you give an update on this? There’s been a lot of bug killing recently in the playback department that seems related.

I just found a way to avoid freeze , so I can listen songs without any stress :)
I turned Crossfade OFF , Crossfade can cause a freeze when I switch between songs.
I dont have newest version of Rock Box (.. maybe bug has been fixed)

Would you mind trying out the newest version to see if has been fixed? It would be nice to close this task if it has indeed been fixed. I believe you can back up the version you`re using now and put it back later on if you’re scared of change.

Ok I will download and install newest version :)

I think , the problem is fixed in newest relase. Today I installed r17071 , so far is OK :)
