Details

When I plug in my Sansa e250 in to a USB port, the screen goes blank and the wheel backlight turns on. At this point the unit appears to be completely unresponsive. Unplugging does nothing. Power button does nothing. The only way to recover is to unplug the battery.

I ran into the same issue. I may have had a corrupted filesystem before I installed Rockbox. Maybe there is a way to copy an image of the hard drive with dd and reformat the drive before installing the bootloader.

I was able to get around this issue by plugging in the device when rockbox was not on. I believe that rockbox is failing to gracefully connect as a usb drive.

same problem here on the e200.
plug usb in during rockbox => hangs (10 second-power-press needed for hard reset).
plug usb in when off => OF.
so atm i have no chance to charge using rockbox :-(

the hang obviously is the result of rockbox trying to reset the sansa.
if you hold select while plugging into usb this does not happen, as rockbox does not try to reset.
hopefully this can be fixed as soon as usb support is enabled.
