FS#8528 - playlist editor plugin

quick plugin to modify a .m3u.. the first go cant do anything that the internal playlist viewer cant do, but my goal is to get this up so the internal one can be scrapped.. imo the core shouldnt be able to do anything other than load/save m3u’s.

at the moment you can only move tracks around and delete tracks (and load/save)..
press the usual menu combo to remove the selected track.
press select to “pick up” the selected track, up/down moves it, select again places it.

ideas for features? I’m very probably going to add multi-select which instantly makes it better than the core one :D

Just wanted to say I like this idea. Solves a couple problems, I think, especially the problem of how to edit a playlist without starting playback. Also, I think making the core smaller without costing any functionality is probably always a welcome thing.

One option for this, once all the “basic” stuff is done, might be the option to embed EXTM3U data in the playlist (perhaps simply an option to scan the files for tags, then generate a line containing Artist/Album/Title for each song). This would be especially helpful for the iTunes users, and might also encourage EXTM3U support in the “viewer” part in the core too.

what “basic” stuff is there which needs adding? (other than fixing the ui…)
There is one downside to this.. no translation and voice support.

I’d rather this was included in the core. The lack of voice/lang support is a big problem; you couldn’t remove the existing core editing without resolving this first.

The only playlist I would want to edit is the one I am currently using - which I can’t with your plugin. Being able to listen to a track is important in the decision whether to delete/move it. So by all means create a plugin for people to organise their playlists, but leave the existing functionality in the core.

Yeah, I changed my mind on that. What I might do is fix up the core viewer so it can move files around and stuff without stealing the plugin buffer and fix this one up to edit the current playlist and give it slightly more powerful stuff (multi-select move/delete)
