FS#8639 - Backlight does not turn off when hold switch is on

How to reproduce this:-

Use the remote to turn on the player while the hold switch is set to lock on the player. Backlight on both the player and the remote stay on constantly (timeout is set to 5s presently).

If you set the hold switch to unlock the backlight goes off after the timeout has expired and thereafter will turn off however the hold switch is set.

There’s a separate option for how long the backlight should stay on while hold is set. What do you have that set at?

It’s set to “Normal”

When I set it to “Off” that works.

What does “Normal” mean? Always on?

Wait - there is more.

If you start the player with the remote with both hold switches off, then the backlight stays on with both of them past the time out time (I have it set for 5s)

If you start the player with the remote with the main hold switch on, and the hold switch option for the main display set to “Off” then the main display turns off but the remote display stays on (even though the timeout for the remote is set to 5s also)

If you start the main player with the play switch (obviously with the hold switch off) the backlight stays on for the player and the remote unless you turn the hold switch on the player. Then the player backlight goes out, but the remote backlight stays on.

It now appears to me that the hold switch is a red herring - albeit using the hold switch starts the timer that turns off the backlight. It appears that somehow the backlight timer does not work at all from startup, although “off” settings in the configuration do.
