FS#8972 - "Database is Not Ready" error when initial screen is set to "Resume Playback"
When the initial screen that is displayed when the player is turned on is set to “Resume Playback”, and you return to the main menu while the song continues playing, then try to browse the database, It displays a message box that says “Database is not Ready.”
When the player is turned on and the state is set to “Main Menu” on power-on, without initializing or updating the database since the previously mentioned error, it works fine.

I can’t repro this - could you perhaps attach your config.cfg?
I *do* get this splash (briefly) if I set the start screen to Database however… that’s a minor UI bug, it should probably wait for the database to be fully initialised (with a timeout, I guess).
