DetailsDoes a future firmware make possible timer ability, just
a program to adjust one or several preset for the begin and the end of the record session. For the fm recorder archos product, we could set the start and the end of the record session (several preset and extra features like daily, weekly), and and the preset of the station we want to record. I don't have yet an fm recorder because of the lack of these features. |
This task depends upon
The scheduler could work similar to the Windows Task Manager (single event, repetitive events, every weekday selectable for weekly repetition, workdays only, weekends only, Sunday only, Monday & Wednesday & Friday, specific date of the month, specific date every year.
Beyond the timer details, every recording task could comprise the signal source (line in or FM), the FM tuner frequency, sample rate, mono/stereo, a name for the task.
I consider 10..20 programmable tasks useful, as to record various radio shows throughout the week. Some of these will be talk radio shows (mono, low bitrate), others will be music (stereo, higher bitrate).
The encoded broadcast is saved to the storage media by its name with some sort of numbering (or date-time stamp) added.
To avoid that recordings fail due to the storage media overflowing, a media-full-warning could be added. I imagine some beeps every few minutes, similar to the battery-low of a smoke alarm, enhanced with display-flashing. An alternative mode would be deletion of the oldest recording if storage space is running low.
A 1st question:
Do we need an automatic "Power On" also? No device may run through out hours and days awaiting the next recording session because of low battery level.
A 2nd question:
By switching on the device next time after an automatic recording session a reminder like "There are new recorded files ready for listening" would be nice.
