FS#2613 - PDF Reader

It would be really nice if rockbox could display pdf files.

Displaying only the text would be useful (and readable) enough.

This is severe! It would save my life… but would need picture output, zoom, and goto-page function.

I also would like this feature. You could even use it to browse the rockbox manual

great idea

yes, text would be great
but with pictures it would be even better, but it isn’t necessary

why dont you guys just convert your pdf files to jpg? then you can view and read those? sure you loose the ability to navigate using the chapters but i think it would be a decent alternative.

would be really nice, i’d welcome a pdf reader with 2 modes, one to watch it with pics, and one text-only mode.

It is not practical to transform a whole heap of multi-page PDF files (scientific journal papers, in my case) into JPGs. Just not practical. Of course, the best solution would be to find another piece of hardware more suitable for that task (PDA, iPod touch, iPod phone, eBook reader), but I already have an iPod, and it runs RockBox, unlike most of those other devices.

wordeful idea

http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/ might be something that could be ported? It’s GPLv2, but I’ve not looked at the code.

any news?

I would prefer bookr, that is the document reader for Homebrew.
It supports pdf rendering natively.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/bookr/

Its GPL too and written in c/c++.

+1. Would love it

I would love one as well, I just export stuff into txt files from AcrobatReader right now, but that is more of a workaround then a solution.
