FS#4968 - "first keypress enables backlight" problem with backlight time settings
Pretty sure this is just an H300 issue.
When “First keypress enables backlight” option is set to Yes, and you are scrolling through the various lengths possible for the backlight time, if you arrive at Off - you effectively lock yourself out of the player, the screen stays black and the player does not accept any more keypresses. temporary solution: plug in charger [or unplug if you’re already plugged in] as this will revert to the other time setting [either “Backlight” or “Backlight when Plugged”].

I had the same issue with my H120.
I solved it by connecting the remote and changing the settings back using the remote.
