FS#5097 - jpg2cover converter plugin

What about a plugin to convert a jpg to the format and size needed for cover displaying?
I think that in the iriver H3xx this should be a 75×75 BMP named ‘cover.bmp’.
It could be executed from the file menu by ‘open with plugin…’ and it could just write the cover file in the same directory.

Out of curiosity, why not just do the conversions on your computer, since that would be vastly faster with a mass conversion program than it would be on a slow embedded processor doing it one folder at a time?

I'd be useful to convert covers on the fly. Not a mass folder conversion but just a single image while you're listening. I could run a mass converter on the computer but some folders may have more than one image and the resulting file could not be the real cover. Then I'd need to check each image. This could be used to fixe those images on the fly. Also, it's a good time to do this while listening because you have the files directly available and some 'lost' time (like when traveling or walking) could be profited. :)

I don't think it would take too much processor to do a jpg conversion to bmp as you already can open a large jpg while listening. Only the writting of the cover.BMP is needed.

I think that you don't need to convert it to bmp just to a framebuffer type because you're making it on the fly
it's just for display…it can be done (it already has on the h100 experimental)
so it's a matter of time (probably on RB 3.1)
