FS#5508 - Recording interference with remote plugged in

When using the remote and recording there is a lot of noise introduced.

You can test this easily as long as you have a remote handy..

-Go into the recording screen (make sure input is set as line in and no microphone is attached)
-Make sure the remote is plugged in
-Turn gain up until you see a readout on the peakmeter (mine starts at about 26db on right channel)
-Turn it up a bit more so that you can see the readout clearly (about 35db is fine for mine)
-Now pull out the remote. You can see the peakmeter reading becomes zero.
-Plug remote back in. The noise comes back.

There is a thread here about it: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=4573.0 along with a poll (I had to make sure it wasn’t just my unit!) :)

Does this also happen with the original iriver firmware?

Ahh…yes it does although it sounds slightly different….

What I was actually thinking was that maybe something like the ticking fix may be possible for the recording screen (as the interference sounds quite similar)

So I suppose this is more of a feature request than a bug…

This task should be closed.
Mmmm commited a workaround that turns of the remote LCD with a button press on the remote.
It works very well.

This interference is due to the remote LCD being constantly updating while drawing the peakmeters.
The original firmware has far less noise (though it still has this same noise) because it did not have any peak meters, thus the LCD updates were far fewer.
Someone please close this task. It is a hardware limitation and just litters Flyspray at this point. Thanks.
