The current method of setting the output directory to either default (/recordings) or the current directory (as in the directory you were in when you left the file browser last) is not very useful or desirable.

I would humbly request that a user configurable, static directory be able to be chosen as one's output directory for recordings.

As I explained in  FS#6064 , storing a directory in the config settings is simply not possible right now for technical reasons, so this would need to depend on using a different method of storing settings. Additionally, I disagree that "current directory" is not useful. It saves you from having to enter a directory by hand each time you want to change - simply make sure you're in the right directory before you enter the recording screen and everything will work fine.

I do agree that a static user-configurable directory for recordings would be a good idea, but it shouldn't replace "current directory" in my opinion.

Some days ago, recording with my H120, I have used the wrong directory. The problem was in the fact that I had already done many other recordings of the seminar and the names are sequentially the same in each directory, then I have a 0001, 0002, 0003 in the directory #1 and 0001, 0002, 0003, 0004, 0005 in the directory #2. Then, in a wrong directory the new recording could be 0004 instead of 0006.
Before reading this task I was thinking to ask a "Set (and hold) current directory" menu voice instead of "Use the current directory", because making a new recording of the same topic it is easy to select the wrong directory...

If it's currently not possible to choose any directory in the file tree, it would be great if it were at least possible to choose the directory used by the original firmware (/RECORD in H300's case), instead of having two separate recording directories.

I thing it's useful to have different recording directories (record and recordings in H120) for the two operating systems...
