FS#6719 - Resume playback does not jump to FM screen

How to reproduce:

1. Go to the FM radio screen
2. Bring up the main menu
3. In the main menu, select ‘Now playing’ or ‘Resume playback’

Expected: FM screen is shown
Observed: DAP tries to start MP3 playback

If resume playback went to fm, you couldnt resume your playlist. So closing.

Definition of playback: Recorded material viewed and heard as recorded.

I would assume that trying to “Resume Playback” would attempt to resume playing back something. That’s what it means.

Does the screen ever say “Now Playing” under those circumstances? You’ve mentioned both in your report, and I would say if it says “Now Playing” while the radio is active, that would be a bug.

Further, choosing FM Radio from the main menu brings you back to the station you were listening to anyway: Why should two options do this, especially when the second one’s name very explicitly means that it does something else?

Rockbox is supposed to remember what you listened to last and resume to that screen, either the WPS or the FM screen. It is surely a bug that it doesn’t return to the FM screen when the user selects “Now playing” or Resume playback.

Linus: no.. Now Playing/Resume Playback always takes you to the WPS. pressing PLAY in the menus/lists will put you in the last music screen.

Paul, Jonathat: This is how it works now, but I think it was discussed on the IRC that if something is playing (i.e. the user can hear something) then the entry in the main menu should be ‘Now playing’ and selecting it should take you to the screen that is producing the sound – be it mp3 playback or FM radio. This might have been discussed further but then I’ve missed it. If nothing is playing the item should be ‘resume playback’ and take the user to… I don’t know. My expectation would be mp3 playback. But it could also be the last ‘sound producing’ screen.

Anyway, not it works consistently. It only doesn’t correspond to what I beleive has been discussed and agreed on on IRC.

the irc discussion was about the play button, never about the menu item.
