FS#6732 - Dual core support broke (at least) 5G support of music playing

After the release of dual-core support by Daniel Ankers on 4 Mar 20:06, playback of any music file does not work, whether all settings are cleared or not. When you attempt to play a music file, it only shows:

Data abort
at 00030708

and freezes on there until you do a reset.

Closed because the original poster hasn\'t responded for over two weeks and the problem he had seems very similar to others using old bootloader.

What bootloader version are you using?

Hey saratoga, Llorean just asked me the exact same thing on the forum.

According to the version via the System menu, it is: r12606-070304.

I do not know if that is what you are looking for.

Llorean asked me for the background color of my bootloader, and when the lines are scrolling right after you see the Apple logo, it is that default white-bluish tint. And when the Rockbox logo appears, the background is gray.

Alright, I think he pointed me to the right direction.

I need to reinstall Rockbox to 'upgrade' my bootloader version.

Why do we never have a note saying we should be on the latest bootloader version?

Oh well…

Thanks for your help, saratoga.

We've been telling people for about two months that the new bootloader is necessary for dual core support. If there is somewhere specific you think there should be a note, then by all means add one, or at least point out where you think it should be.

The reason no note was added about needing a new bootloader because I had done my best to make that unneccessary. The tests I had done on the targets I own had been successful, so I'm sorry that it didn't work for you.

Ryan, please can you let us know if you're up and running again, snd that this report can be closed?
