FS#7072 - Java/ .jar emulator
|
DetailsJava/ .jar emulator
What do you guys think of a Java runtime environment? Maybe one capable of running java applications (.jar)? As it possible with a PDA and simple, low processor phones, shouldn't it be simple for rockbox? Currently, java games are capable of rendering 3D graphics. These graphics would be similar to that of Doom, possibly better. For the Gigabeat and iPod, the screen resolution of 240x320 or 320x240 can easily be achieved with some java games, I am sure, for example, the gigabeat has a more powerful processor than a Motorola razr v3/v3xx/krzr/l6 or sony ericsson z800i, j230i, w800, lg chocolate etc. The only problem I can think of would be the key configuration. This is due to the fact that mobiles and PDAs have many more buttons that Rockbox-capable mp3 players. It could be solved by the same solution used with doom, by having a plugin that simulates buttons being pressed. If possible, this could open a whole new style of Rockbox gaming, with better graphics and 3d gaming. Examples of Great java games Gameloft Ashphalt 2 (3d car racing) NFS Carbon (3d car racing) Gameloft Splinter Cell Gameloft King Kong Gameloft Poker ..Or would it be easier with a symbian emulator? |

I can tell you are not a software developer. If you were, you wouldn't have thought that the key configuration would be the only problem.
