FS#89 - Record Timer

A Record Timer would be very nice.
Just as an old VCR, where I can switch the recording
time to go on until the Recorder will stop recording.
e.g.
0:30
1:00
1:30
2:00
.
.
.
23:00
23:30

What a great Idea.
I use the recordfunktion very often and this is one thing I am
really missing.
This function can set of the Funktion Buttons who will not
used at the recording. (F1 or F2)
When you have started recording press the F-Button and a
timer will shown. With every press it will be a biger Time set.
(see on Top –> 0:30 –> next press Button –> 1:00 –> next
press Button –> 1:30 –> ….23:30 and so on.)
After the time ist out the AJBR stops the recording
automaticly (such as when I press stop (F3) Button manualy)
What do you think of this great Idea?

Project Manager

This a great idea, and I think we will implement it as soon as we have the
Real Time Clock driver functional.

“As soon as we have the Real Time Clock driver functional”

Wow, that will be nice.
I’m really missing this feature.
Thanks.

Any news about the record timer development progress?

Project Manager

Well, maybe my last statement was a little optimistic. As you probably
have noticed, Rockbox doesn’t record MP3‘s at all, since we haven’t
developed the recording drivers yet… So even if we have the RTC
driver, we still don’t have the recording.

Is there any News or anything in progress with the Record
Timer Function at this time?

I agree. My company would love to see a version of this
functionality.

We would like to use the Archos as a long term recorder
(days of mp3s). We’d like a record timer that would stop the
recorder, save the mp3 to a file, and then start another
recording, all on a predefined time interval (one-hour / two-
hours, something like that.)

We might even be to offer a small (we are a small company,
after all) financial incentive if someone could incorporate this
funcationality into a future version of rockbox. Contact me if
anyone is interested in this angle…

Keep up the excellent work!

Now that RockBox supports recording, and has a sleep timer,
it would be great to see this feature revisited. It would
greatly increase the utility of the audio-input and MP3
encoder, as you wouldn’t have to babysit it so much.

A chronometer timer would be fine, as in: “Start recording at
3pm”

But even just an egg timer would be fantastic: “Start
recording now and stop in 1 hour.”

Thanks!

anyone know if there’s been a change on this?
