FS#988 - Playlist resume does not always work

I have Rel. 1.4 of the Rockbox running on a
Jukebox Studio 20. I have slightly over 3000MP3
files, split into two major directories. Each major
directory has several other subdirectories within it
to meet the constraints of the 400 directory limit
while still organizing my music somewhat. One
major directory has about 2300 MP3‘s, the other
about 900. I have one playlist for each major
directory.

The problem I am running into is that I cannot
seem to consistently get the Rockbox software to
resume my playlist. Sometimes it does, sometimes
it doesn’t. Typically, if I shut the player off and
then turn it back on shortly thereafter, it seems to
resume OK. But if I have it off overnight and then
turn it back on, it typically resumes at song 1,
sometimes with a new random seed, other times
with the same seed.

I’ve gone thru the bug list and I’ve not seem a bug
reported with this same description. I have the
settings defined so that the player should always
try to resume the list on startup.

If this is a true bug, I would appreciate it if you
could solve this one. I’m wondering if my large
playlist is messing up the player? Or if the strange
characters at the end of my playlist are somehow
making it behave strangely? I have a bunch of stuff
by uberzone and I actually use the umlat version of
the “u”, which translates strangely in my playlist.

You can reach me at jhchang@yahoo.com Thank
you.

Have you tried a daily build? Does the same problem occur?

I have kind of the same problem. I normaly play files from one
directory without using a playlist. When I shut down the player
during a song, sometimes the resume function does work and
after rebooting the last song plays from where it was before
shutting down. But this behaviour is very seldom since a few
weeks. Normaly the software even does not know in which folder
it was before.

Guys, does this still happen with the latest daily build?
