Philips GoGear HDD1630/HDD6320/HDD6330

Introduction

The 1630 and 6320/6330 are almost identical, there is a difference on the keypad and also the 63X0 has a RTC, not the 1630. The other big difference is that the 1630 has a microdrive and the 63X0 a hard drive. The service manual for each one is available here http://www.free-service-manuals.com/. Mark Arigo committed code for the HDD1630 to SVN on 2008-06-27, the current status is that the bootloader works to load Rockbox, but dual boot does not work: it freezes after decrypting the OF. When Rockbox boots, it freezes somewhere between showing the logo and the main menu. And there's no driver for the touchpad. So lots of work left.

This doesn't appear to work on my HDD1630/17 OF v2.4 JasonStahls

  • Disconnect the player from the computer and turn it off.
  • Hold down the Volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the player to the computer.
  • Hold the Volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds.

Method 1 - This does work on my HDD1630/17 OF v2.4 JasonStahls

  • Connect the player to the main adapter and PC.
  • On the player, press and hold "Power On" & "Vol +" until the unit resets.
  • Quickly press and hold "Vol -" until the PC picks up the unit and shows it as removable drive.
