GoGearSA9200info

Current Status

An initial commit was made on 21 May, 2008. Since the chipset is largely similar to that of the Sansa e200 series, most everything works, including audio. Some more work on the touchpad is needed.

Port maestro is Mark Arigo.

Firmware

  • Firmware and updater can be found here
  • A better place to download the firmware directly: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/ (look for the sa9200 diretories)
  • There appear to be at least 4 different (hardware?) versions: 00, 05, 17, and 17b (37 & 37b are empty directories)

Hardware

  • Flash
    • Toshiba TH58NVG4 D4CTG00

  • Flash Controller
    • Phison PS4043FL-6
    • Datasheet: PS4043S.pdf (similar controller?)

  • LCD
    • Manufacturer: ?
    • Specs: 160 x 128
    • The following markings are on various parts of the the LCD ribbon connector:
               LTM0166HA1A2 97-LCTB81-4001 A.2
HA16926C01348 RoHS Compliant (could be HA or AH)
YH 6913 (the YH part of a logo)

Recovery Mode

  1. Power off the player. Slide the side switch to the OFF position and hold it for ~15 seconds (even after the screen says "bye" and goes blank).
  2. Press and hold the Vol + button
  3. Slide the side switch to the Lock position (hold on)
  4. Insert the USB cable (while still holding Vol +)
  5. The player should power on and display "PHILIPS" on the screen, if it does not, then you did not properly power off the device in step 1. After that, your computer should find the "16-MB FORMAT" drive (Philips SA9XXX GoGear USB Device).

Service Mode

  1. Power off the player. Slide the side switch to the OFF position and hold it for ~15 seconds (even after the screen says "bye" and goes blank).
  2. Press and hold the Vol - button
  3. Slide power switch to the On position and release
  4. Immediately slide the switch back to the On position and hold it there (also still holding Vol -)
  5. The player should power on and display "PHILIPS" on the screen, if it does not, then you did not properly power off the device in step 1. After that, it should enter Service Mode. There is a "SDRam Test" and a "Flash Loading Test" that seems to start Recovery Mode (prompting to insert USB).
