How to control Rockbox on the iPod

Button actions change based on the current screen you are in. Below is a summary:

While Playing Screen
Menu	Displays the Rockbox Menu
Play	Toggles between Play/Pause
Right	Skips to the Next song in playlist
Left	Skips to the Previous song in playlist
Select	Opens the file browser
These actions occur when you press and hold down one of the buttons:
Right	fast forwards
Left	rewinds
Select	Displays the WPS Context Menu
Play	hold for 2 seconds to Stop the current song and add a bookmark if option is turned on.
	hold down for 4 seconds to shut down the iPod

Rockbox Menu
Menu	Returns you to the previous menu. When you get to the top level menu, pressing Menu again will bring you back to whatever screen you were at before you entered the rockbox menu.
Play	Nothing
Right	Enters the selected menu item
Left	Returns you to the previous menu. When you get to the top level menu, pressing Left again will bring you back to whatever screen you were at before you entered the rockbox menu.
Select	Chooses the selected item
These actions occur when you press and hold down one of the buttons:
Menu	Same as a single press of Menu
Right	Same as a single press of Right
Left	Same as a single press of Left
Play	hold down for 4 seconds to shut down the iPod
Select	Same as a single press of Select

File Browser
Menu	Displays the Rockbox Menu
Play	Returns you to the While Playing Screen
Right	Enters the selected folder/Plays selected song or playlist
Left	Goes up a directory
Select	Enters the selected folder/Plays selected song or playlist

Text Entry

Text Entry
Menu	Cancels out of the text entry screen
Play	Nothing
Right	Moves the cursor one character to the right
Left	Moves the cursor one character to the left
Scrolling Right	Moves the cursor down one character
Scrolling Left	Moves the cursor up one character
Select	Inserts the currently highlighted character. If the cursor is down at the filename, Select will delete on character

Select	Saves the file and brings you back to the menu

Misc

How to start the original Apple Firmware

After a configurable period of inactivity, Rockbox will shut down and put your iPod into a power-saving deep sleep mode. You can also manually shut down Rockbox and your iPod by holding the play/pause button for about 4 seconds.

From this deep sleep mode, press MENU to wake up your ipod. If you keep your finger held on MENU whilst your iPod is booting, then the Rockbox bootloader will start the Apple firmware. Do not release the MENU button until you see the "Loading original firmware..." message on the screen.

How to exit from viewing/using Plugins

This varies from plugin to plugin, but usually to exit out of the currently viewed plugin, you can press Menu or Menu and Select at the same time.
