11:41:42midkaydionoea, oh, that'd be quite nice indeed..
11:41:43dionoeathe site looks nice btw :)
11:41:54JdGordonmy idea is bassically, download the new daily source to a temp dir and then copy that source to a new folder, patch it with any patches the user wants, if it fails tell them it cant be done and fix the patch, if it works then email them witht the link
11:41:56RedBrevaAh, good point, and another feature for 1.1 ... - Thanks
11:42:16midkayJdGordon, sure, that works.. problem is that patches seem to fail often. ;)
11:42:38JdGordontrue.. but then whoever submitted it will have to fix it
11:42:45JdGordonif it fails once it gets deleted
11:43:01JdGordonsame thing if the compile fails
11:43:04midkayhm..
11:43:26JdGordonif noone has started this before the end of july (after exams) then im gonna work on it
11:43:33JdGordonreally dont have the time atm for it :p
11:43:37JdGordonend of june i mean
11:44:00midkaydunno. coolish idea, but makes me wonder just how useful it'll be.. instead of "how can i compile rockbox" we'll probably have "how can i use the patch-builder" and/or "the patch-builder says the patch is broken, what can i do?!?!?!"..
11:46:35thePianoManyou can always have an FAQ for the patch builder
11:52:28midkaydon't really see how that would solve things since (1) people never check FAQs, before *or* after they have a problem, and (2) if a patch fails, well, it fails. :)
11:53:23JdGordonwell, it wouldn't.

11:53:54*JdGordon had a look @ the sansa e200 yesterday.. looks sweet, couldnt actually try it tho :p
11:54:12thePianoManI think a patch builder is really only useful at this time when there are people asking for more features during a feature freeze when features patches aren't being committed.
11:55:17thePianoManAnd there are bugs in Flyspray marked for 3.0 that are unconfirmed. Makes it pretty difficult to tell what is waiting to be done before 3.0 is released.
11:55:18JdGordonalso for things like the h300 optimized and ipod opitmized buiilds which were going around
11:57:22thePianoManJdGordon: I'm not sure what you mean by the optimised builds...
12:00
12:00:18JdGordonthere was a build going around mysticriver that had patches for the h300 that was being done every day
12:00:54thePianoManbut wouldn't those patches be added into the main source?
12:01:38JdGordonnot nescacerily

12:08:18JdGordonbtw, iv found myself trying to be a bit more readable because of you ppl!
12:08:30JdGordonexcept for a few notable exceptions..
12:08:42thePianoManI try to keep in mind that these logs are kept archived on the RB main page
12:08:57thePianoManOtherwise I wouldn't bother with capital letters or stuff like that
12:09:48midkayi only use capitals on forum posts or internet pages.. conversations remain lowercase for me. :) i do bother with spelling/grammar/punctuation though.

16:55:39*Febs wonders what we have in the manual for that.
16:56:12pussfellerwell the info in the "recent bookmarks" screen could be updated
16:56:48FebsThere is an issue with the way those buttons are identified that doesn't (currently) allow the messages to be different for differnt platforms.

16:57:02Paul_The_NerdFebs: Actually, LangV2 is in, I think it's possible now
16:57:11Paul_The_NerdBut most people are busy working on things that relate to the release.
16:57:40Paul_The_NerdIf I recall there's a patch in the tracker to resolve the Play / Navi issue on the H100/H300 series in the LangV2 way
16:57:45FebsAs they should be. But I think that inaccurate button messages should be categoried as "bugs" that can be fixed for the release.
16:58:07pussfellerso all that stuffs hardcoded somewhere instead of their being another layer to "translate" to the build model?
16:58:10Paul_The_NerdFebs: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5364
16:58:20Paul_The_NerdFebs: Inaccurate button messages on Release Targets, sure. :)
16:58:58Paul_The_Nerdpussfeller: Actually, they're stored in a separate file so that Rockbox is easily available in multiple languages, but the original system didn't take into account the possibility that future Rockbox incarnations would be on devices with different buttons.

17:00:43pussfellerlike what the Apple OS does with podcasts from itunes
17:02:04pussfellerlike anything tagged "audio books" or "podcasts" would automatically show up in a certain virtual folder and then autobookmark on leaving that file
17:03:48pussfelleror you could mark a specific dir as one to imlement for this behavior

17:59:57dionoeaoh :)
18:00
18:00:08Mikachujust got it working
18:00:26dionoeabtw, does the rockbox api allow accessing touch wheel position from plugins ? or is that in a pending patch ?
18:00:44Mikachuthe api doesn't allow it even from the core as of now
18:00:51Mikachuit's only stored inside the button driver
18:01:05dionoeaok
18:01:11Mikachuwhen i say as of now, i mean it's always been this way
18:01:13dionoeaso you added some functions to access it ?

18:03:45Mikachuthat adds a function that simply exports the variable that keeps track of the wheel position
18:04:21dionoeaposition == angle ? or does it tell you exactly where you are (like near the center or on the outer side ?)
18:04:30Mikachuonly angle
18:04:34Mikachubetween 0 and 95

18:06:24dionoeawell it doesn't look like you can put more than 8 here (video)

22:50:19bluebrotherRedBreva, the problem is that the table will be resized to fit the screen viewport if it's possible. Thus text lines that could be printed longer will get more space.
22:51:17bluebrotherso you could fix the width of your table cells accordingly, which will do the trick. Easiest would be width:130px; in the css file (for h1xx only of course)

23:48:15Paul_The_NerdIf you go to the Rockbox webpage, and search for the SimpleGuideToCompiling you can find basic instructions.
