06:46:21midkayaha, maybe a manual mistake..

07:57:55natemicwhen i hard reset, i used to see that screen that said 'loading rockbox' or 'loading original firmware', etc. but now its just the apple then the normal apple interface

08:12:09midkaysince it's not appearing for some reason..
08:12:42midkayit sounds like your iPod entered the powered-off deep-sleep mode and when it restored the bootloader was gone for some reason.. weirdness, but a bootloader reinstall is better than a complete wipe, i'd say..
08:12:53natemicwell, my friend did that all in the first place (if you are talking about the slightly complicated process of entering the little lines and shit when you first install it) and i have no clue how to do it

21:39:18Landusi AM.
21:39:24LandusDunno if I can help.
21:39:29LandusUgh, bloody caps lock.
21:40:28theprodukktwell
21:40:40theprodukkti just uploaded 4000 mp3 to my iriver h320
21:41:00LandusOkay?
21:41:32LandusNot seeing the problem.
21:41:33theprodukktwhen using the filetree i tried to add all files (directory music) by holding the nav key and then adding it to playlist, but then commes a fast error (so fast that i cant read) and the files arent added
21:42:29LandusWell, in the next few days when I get my h320 in the mail and get accustomed to Rockbox, I'll see if I can help you out with that problem.
21:42:30 Quit nls_web ("CGI:IRC (EOF)")
21:42:57LandusThough, if I had to take a guess, there's a chance you may be putting DRM mp3's on the DAP.
21:43:13LandusRockbox doeesn't have DRM support. Dunno if it would cause an error, though.
21:43:15theprodukktdont think so
21:43:21PaulJamthere is no DRM system for .mp3
21:43:26theprodukkt^^
21:43:31LandusOh.
21:43:53LandusThere ends my potential solutions.
21:44:00theprodukktPaulJam: can u help me?
21:44:20PaulJamcould be hard if you can't read the error
21:44:53theprodukktill try
21:44:57theprodukkt2 catch it
21:45:07LandusIt's a long shot and might be time consuming, but could to try putting each mp3 on at a time?
21:45:12LandusOr ten on at a time?
21:45:36LandusOr if the filenames are set up neatly, an entire artist at once?
21:45:40PaulJambut you could try to create the playlist by entering the directory where your music is and then enter the menu and select: "Playlist Optionen" => " Erstelle Playlist"

21:49:59PaulJamdoes the playlist length exceed the value given in "Grundeinstellungen" => "System" => "Grenzwerte" => "Max Playlist-Länge"?

21:51:43PaulJami dont think rockbox opens the files while creating the playlist.
21:51:58theprodukktthink so 2
21:52:05LandusIn theory, I doesn't make sense for it to.
21:52:15Landusit, rather.
21:52:18theprodukktbut he checks the ending dont he?
21:52:39theprodukktdoes rockbox support wma/mid files?
21:53:03PaulJamsomeone is working on .wma
21:53:38theprodukktwhat does Verzeichniss rekursiv durchsuchen do?
21:54:00S0apthere are .wma's on the filesharing networks that have been renamed .mp3
21:54:34theprodukktis there a possibility to clear the playlist?
21:54:36PaulJamThere is a plugin for midi files. in order to use it you need to download some patchset-file but the plugin isn't very good imo.
21:54:36LandusThen they wouldn't play.
21:54:58LandusIf .wma files had their extensions changed to .mp3 without being converted.
21:55:36LandusThe file would still be encoded as .wma and the .mp3 decoder trying to read the file wouldn't be able to understand it.
21:55:44S0apthey wouldn't play on rockbox, but winamp/WMP would play them.
21:55:45theprodukkt^^ pg xD
21:55:46PaulJam"verzeichnisse rekursiv hinzufägen" should be enabled, or it will only add the files that are directly in the selected folder
21:55:55theprodukktthats the matter xD
21:55:55LandusNo, they wouldn't.
21:55:56theprodukktthx
21:56:05S0apLandus - yes, they do. I just did it.
21:56:16LandusThen they weren't renamed.
21:56:19LandusThey were converted.
21:56:25S0apI just renamed one.
21:56:51LandusThen whatever software you used to play the file still recognized the file as a .wma.
21:56:59S0apexactly what I said.
21:56:59LandusAnd used a .wma decoder.
21:57:13S0ap[2006-07-09 15:57:52] <S0ap> they wouldn't play on rockbox, but winamp/WMP would play them.
21:57:23theprodukktdo u know a possibility to create the playlist from a dir (not saving it, just loading the playlist) (because when i use add to playlist the old files are still there)
21:57:44*theprodukkt asks himself if u can understand his question
21:57:44LandusBecause whatever you used didn't use the encoder for the file you changed the extension for.
21:57:56S0apexactly, Landus.
21:58:01LandusWhat you said isn't much different than putting a CD and trying to play it in a record player.
21:58:02PaulJamtheprodukkt: try to stop playback before creating the playlist
21:58:03LandusIt won't work.
21:58:27theprodukktthx
21:58:37theprodukktnow i remember: the playlist exists only during playing
21:58:41theprodukktwas already said here
21:58:43S0apmy point being, if he downloaded .wma files reNAMED .mp3, winamp, WMP, etc would still play them as they treat you with kid gloves.

21:59:55LandusUh.

22:00:15S0apdid I suggest using them?

22:00:29S0apwhat?
22:00:41LandusYou did. Not directly.
22:00:46S0apno I didn't

22:00:59S0ap?
22:01:01S0apwhere?
22:01:14Landus<S0ap> my point being, if he downloaded .wma files reNAMED .mp3, winamp, WMP, etc would still play them as they treat you with kid gloves.
22:01:31S0apI offered this situation as a theory to explain theprodukkt's evidence
22:01:44Landus<S0ap> there are .wma's on the filesharing networks that have been renamed .mp3
22:01:57S0apand those quotes are me suggesting he use FS networks?
22:02:14Landus<S0ap> and those quotes are me suggesting he use FS networks?
22:02:23Landus<S0ap> did I suggest using them?
22:02:23Landus <Landus> Yes.
22:02:27S0apyour primary language, I'll assume, isn't English.
22:02:41LandusIt is.
22:02:41PaulJamone could also understand that as a warning rather than a suggestion to use it
22:03:31S0apI still don't see where I _suggested_ he do anything. I speculated as to what he might have done...
22:03:38LandusThat's suggesting.
22:03:49S0apas in recomending?

What I did was moving all LANG_ strings that would be displayed using FONT_SYSFIXED font to LANG_SYSFONT_ strings. that way hebrew like any other non-latin language could be _really_ used.

23:44:03theprodukktive buffer underruns sometimes...
23:44:07theprodukktwhats the matter for them?
23:44:23sharpethe buffer was emptied. :)
23:44:41theprodukktwhat can i do against them?
23:44:57sharpewhat exactly are we talking about?
23:45:07theprodukkt(at least i think that those little pauses in playback are buffer underruns)
23:45:39sharpefunny, everyone who mentions them, calls them freezes, or skips...
23:45:46sharpecongratulations.
23:45:48PaulJamhow do you manage that, for me the rarely boosts at all.
23:45:48lamedmmm, I guess no one wants to talk about my low-level user-friendliness patches.
23:46:32PaulJamtheprodukkt: what kind of flies are you playing?

23:47:05Bagderlamed: why does adding SYSFIXED solve anything?
23:47:41Bagderto me it seems that could be done by mentioning the sys font in the description for the phrase
23:47:56lamedbagder: because there you could use the english translation. otherwise, hebrew users just get squares.
23:48:39Bagderok, so the actual fix for your case is that you just skipped translation a bunch of phrases?
23:49:33lamedwell, It can't be displayed in hebrew, and we couldn't afford any other way of having non-latin fonts loaded.
23:49:57lamedthe fix, to be accurate,
23:50:05BagderI didn't say that either, I'm asking about your fix

23:51:40theprodukktok, now i had 3 skips/freezes in the last minute... (mp3 file, 192kbps, 3:29 min)
23:51:43theprodukktwhat can i do?
23:51:52lamedis because most strings, say LANG_REPEAT, will be used both in sysfont and in unicode places. the idea was to seperate those two occasions. I've discussed in the past about loading other non-latin fonts, it wasn't a very likeable idea.
23:52:35lamedhebrew isn't the only occasion, other languages benefit from that too.
23:52:56theprodukktis it usual that the displays brightness isnt stable
23:52:57theprodukkt?
23:53:05theprodukkt(was heißt flackern?)
23:53:33Bagderlamed: seems like a reasonable approach
23:53:45*theprodukkt feels ignored :(
23:53:58lamedas for now, you can't, by any means, use hebrew translation in quickscreens and recording screens.
23:55:21 Quit floody ("Távozom")
23:55:43lamedand it's either not using the default font at all in rockbox, because that will always make translation problems, or having different builds for every language (which isn't practical), or just seperating the two cases.
