08:28:00rbnovicehi, i want to use 'sin' function in a plugin, but i suspect my device (sansa c2xx) doesn't support float too well, and maybe 'sin' isn't supported. i can't find this in the docs, anyone know off-hand?
08:28:27rbnovice(do i just need to create my own sin-table in a header, and include that?)
08:32:38LloreanI think there's already some math functions for plugins, though I'm not sure where they're located specifically.
08:33:38amiconnRockbox does not use floating point in the core, and even plugins should avoid it wherever possible
08:33:43rbnovicei found a reference to fsin in one of the dsp-related things (codec maybe), but it seems to give bad values. i could have miscast something though
08:34:03amiconnUse fixed point arithmetics wherever possible, as it is faster by factors.
08:34:12rbnoviceokay, i will use a sintab then. i'm already used fixed-point for everything else

10:33:00ShamusNYIf you make make these selections: Artists > All > All, then press the Play button, iPod will choose an album at random and play it in its entirety. iPod will then shuffle to another album and play it in its entirety. Albums are not repeated until iPod has played through the entire list.
10:33:00ShamusNYIf you choose a song from the Songs list, iPod will play that song, then the remainder of the album associated with that song. iPod will then shuffle to another song in the Songs list, play it, then play the remainder of the album associated with that song. For example, if iPod chooses track 8 on an album with 15 tracks, Album shuffle will play tracks 8 through 15 of that album, but not 1 through 7.

16:29:02countrymonkeyYou have good english, considering english isn't your 1st language.
16:29:06HorschtBuschel, calculation back, there's at least half an hour missing in that log
16:30:06Horschtthank you, countrymonkey
16:30:34Buschelhorscht: ok, >16h effective runtime −− pretty good :) btw, afaik you use Cabbie2.0 WPS and Mp3, correct? At which bitrate and at what volume?
16:30:50countrymonkeyI know because I am learning something else. Awfully difficult. :p
16:30:53Horschtbitrate VBR V"
16:31:07HorschtV2, volume not too loud (listenable
16:31:30Buschelhorscht: do you know the volume in dB?
16:31:31Horschtsince I was using cabbie v2, it doesn't display any dB level
16:31:38Buschelahh, ok.
16:32:01Horschtbut setting should still be intact, as I didn't change it
16:32:15Horschtcorrect?
16:32:20Buschelbtw, if you would run a test without WPS (e.g. just entering the settings menu) the runtime will even be longer
16:32:41Horschtyeah, but i like my screen to look nice :p
16:34:10countrymonkeyYou say I can go into the settings menu and get better battery life? I'm blind so don't care about wpses.

16:34:58Horschtby the way, it's all with album art displayed
16:35:04countrymonkeyHow much more life?
16:35:23Horschti didn't run it against the same stock revision, yet
16:35:23Buschelcountrymonkay: if you've got an iPod Video it will save up to several hours (when comparing no WPS to default WPS)
16:35:49countrymonkeyWell I have an ipod4g so it should be better
16:35:52Horschtbut using a higher revision with the same patch i got an improvement of 2 hours using Buschel's patch

16:37:03Buschelcountrymonkey: what kind of format do you use?
16:37:09Horschtand with an older svn patched with Buschels build, Rockbox only falls 1.5 hours behind stock ipod firmware
16:38:06countrymonkeymp3s at 24kbps bitrate. (that is what my internet radio station puts on and I'm too cheap to buy music)
16:38:16countrymonkeyI mean my favorite station
16:38:59Horschtwow... that sounds like it would really sound horrible
16:39:53 Part herefornow
16:40:01countrymonkeyYes, but I don't want to buy music. I am surfing around for a new internet radio station that plays better quality music.
16:40:10Buschelcountrymonkey: mp3 will give around 7h runtime on a 4G iPod. maybe you should convert to a more (battery) effective codec like mpc.
16:40:40countrymonkeyIf I do mp3 to mpc will my already horrible quality music get horribler?
16:40:48Horschtmpc? never heard of that
16:41:06Buschelcountrymonkey: I never did tests at that bitrate... to painful
16:41:09Horschtmusepack?
16:41:12Buschelyes
16:41:29countrymonkeyI only get 4h20m battery life.
16:41:56Buschelyes, thats around the unpatched svn :)
16:42:22countrymonkeyThen what is 7h with?
16:43:39Buschelwith patch #8379 (pcf03.patch) and using mp3
16:43:42BigBambiTranscoding any lossy format to another will sound worse. If you start with 24 kbps mp3, I don't even want to think about it
16:44:36Horschti think i'll stick with VBR Mp3
16:45:46Horschtsince what revision is cabbiev2 in the SVN, though?

23:44:36rasheramiconn: Yeah, I was thinking of Windows
23:44:49BigBambiidmagiK: I'm stumped then I'm afraid
23:44:54pocketninjado you know if anyone is porting rockbox to the samsung yp-p2
23:45:12BigBambipocketninja: I belive there is a thread on it in the new ports forum
23:45:24pocketninjao ok thank you ;)

23:47:37idmagiKoh yeah, for some reason, i do have some album art
23:48:24IzzehOim having trouble compiling latest svn in cygwin - keeps giving me errors in action.c or something... any quick way to remove all applied patches so i can try a clean compile?
23:49:14thgzAmiconn: More testing done: I didn't press any cursor keys and stayed on the cygwin window, output file is 10 k.
23:49:30IzzehOforum thread has about 70 suggestions but no one every summarizes which does the job best :S
23:49:50rasherthgz: enter "V=1 make voice" as your command - hopefully that should give some useful debug output
23:50:03BigBambiIzzehO: svn revert -R .
23:50:14BigBambidon't forget the full stop at the end
23:50:28thgzIzzeH: Backup your builds, remove the whole directory where you downloaded rockbox and download it again from svn
23:50:34thgzThat's the way I use
23:50:55idmagiKBigBambi, i got it working but it's strange
23:51:16idmagiKwhen i do ums mode or whatever its called, i see transparent folders labeled music, record, fm, etc.
23:51:16IzzehONo point backing up my build I guess.. haven't been able to compile in about 2 months...
23:51:27idmagiKalong with my rockbox folder
23:51:33BigBambiidmagiK: Yep
23:51:36idmagiKoh
23:51:41idmagiKso i import music into that folder?
23:51:46BigBambiThey are part of the Sansa firmware
23:51:49BigBambiI wouldn't
23:51:50idmagiKthen what happened to the folder from my original firmware
23:51:55idmagiKoh
23:51:56idmagiKi did
23:51:59idmagiKand then that music worked
23:52:11BigBambiThe Sansa OF hides the music folder everytime the OF is booted
23:52:16BigBambiWhich is annoying for rockbox
23:52:29BigBambiIf you want to use the file tree
23:52:36IzzehOooh revert fixed action.c - now to figure out which patch is messing it up...

23:52:48pocketninjahello
23:53:09thgzPocketninja: Hello again
23:53:12BigBambiidmagiK: Make another folder called Audio, or whatever you want and put it in there, then both the OF, rockbox file tree and database should see it without having to muck around
23:53:19BigBambiBut if you have it working, :)
23:53:38pocketninjacan everyone hear me or just you?
23:53:56IzzehOyeah we can hear ya
23:54:04pocketninjalol ok
23:54:06BigBambiEveryone, but yet again you haven't asked a question
23:54:17Bagderpocketninja: for a new port you need to get things going yourself, you own the device
23:54:19rasherpocketninja: do you honestly expect 150 people to say "hi" to you?
23:54:24pocketninjayes i do
23:54:27BigBambipocketninja: Please read before speaking: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IrcGuidelines
23:54:42pocketninjai do own the device
23:54:52Bagderthere's no magic porting team that will come to rescue
23:55:08thgzPocketninja: No you can't really *wink*

23:56:31IzzehOHas the problems with disk mode been fixed yet?
23:56:52BigBambiWhich problem?
23:57:38pocketninjayea i know i actually wanted to know if someone could tell me what knowledge i need to help a team port rockbox to the p2
23:57:57BigBambipocketninja: See the NewPorts page on the wiki
23:58:09pocketninjai already did
23:58:15IzzehOIt wouldn't go into disc mode.. rather just charge from USB - Had to boot into original firmware every time... it was listed on the rockbox site as a problem but I can't seem to find if it's been solved yet or not..
23:58:32BigBambiIzzehO: On the iPods rockbox has never had a diskmode
23:58:34 Quit idmagiK ()
23:58:55BigBambiIt used to reboot automatically to apple's diskmode
