03:56:26rdvonzI have.

03:56:49scorchethen there are no updates, i suppose
03:57:05rdvonzor they're being reclusive.
03:58:02Unhelpfulor there are no updates. and seriously, the front page has checkins on it every day, what do you mean, "Is rockbox still being worked on?"
03:58:55rdvonzI haven't seen any new ports in a long time. The players are dated..

04:02:30rdvonzUnless you're talking about svn.
04:03:00scorchewhat on earth are you talking about?

04:04:01scorche2008 was less than a month away...just because we dont post anything to "project news", doesnt mean that nothing is happening...just look at the SVN log
04:04:15rdvonzSorry.

04:16:36PatBlargQuick question... would a remake of the original WPS screen of the Sansa E200 be "legal" to be posted on the website?
04:17:28LloreanPatBlarg: If you use any of the original images, no.
04:17:43LloreanIf you've created all your own images, and are just going for the "feel" of it, yes.

15:11:41edrzhmm. i wonder if there is a more powerful device to be had for similar cost ...
15:18:11edrzi was looking through apps/codecs/ briefly. how often (if at all) do you pull changes for upstream?
15:18:27edrzi see just a few mentions in svn log for libtremor, for instance.
15:18:44Zagorwe don't, unless there is some major changes upstream
15:19:03B4gderand we often have more polished versions now for our targets, than upstream does
15:19:26Zagorexactly. our needs differ very much from the needs of the upstream users

15:20:12edrzlibtremor though is specifically an integer implementation, i guess i assumed it was targeted for "embeded" devices.
15:20:20edrzwhat specifically is different about rockbox?

15:20:56Zagorfor example we don't have dynamic memory allocation
15:21:16B4gderI'm not a codec guy, but my impression has been that we have been leading the fixed-point stuff for the codecs rather than following upstream

18:51:12linuxstb_Also, (IIUC, I may not), you could have left the four identical debug-target.h files in the firmware/target/arm/as3535/ directory, with just the fuze getting one at a lower level.

18:54:30linuxstb_I think that will be part of the cause of your large binsize delta - the GPIO*_PIN() macro is being expanded 4 times, but IIUC, you can replace all that with just a single register read from a fixed location.

20:03:13bertrikyou can download the source code, read the documentation and try it out, but the ports for ams (v2) sansas are not fully functional yet and have known bugs. Installing Rockbox on your ams sansa player may permanently brick it and you probably won't get any support from here unless you are serious about helping with further development.
20:04:04bertrikThe current status of the ams sansa ports is at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaV2 which is up-to-date to my best knowledge
20:04:58Spidi10|XtR3m3|okay, then i have No other choice than read the tutorial if it crashes
20:05:39Spidi10|XtR3m3|if i must use longer this f*** original firmware i am going to throw it against a car or something
20:06:04Spidi10|XtR3m3|i am going to test it, thank you anyway, have a nice day
20:06:15bertrikMy advice is to not install the ams sansa rockbox code yet unless you know exactly what you are doing, because of the risk of permanently bricking it
20:06:46*domonoky1 thinks that the bricking risk is very minimal, but its there ofcourse.

20:55:34BigBambikugel: However then to change the settings, left and right on the Navi/menu "wheel" changes the left item, but both increase the value, not way increase, one way decrease. This may not be possible, but it feels a little odd that pressing left increases an item.

22:55:32n1skugel: in FS #8663 you say that the properties plugin reports a negative size for your file, sounds like a bug...
22:55:46kugelindeed :)

23:03:52n1sno wonder, the dirent struct stores size as long so it will wrap at filesizes > 2GB
23:05:21Bagder!
23:10:24kugeln1s: yea, I found that too, it should be unsigned right?
23:11:48kugelor does filesize < 0 supposed to have a meaning?

23:12:19n1skugel: i'm not entirely sure about any of the code dealing with dirs but to be able to hold large enough sizes either an unsigned long (or size_t) or long long is needed
23:12:41kugelsize_t seems reasonable
23:12:55kugelI'll test it
23:13:00n1syes, but i would double check before changing it too

23:22:54Bagderdon't we have a wiki page somewhere regarding that sig problem of recent cygwin?
23:28:12BigBambiBagder: Yes, it is mentioned on the cygwin install page

23:38:24krazykitrockbox doesn't provide an MTP mode at all
23:38:29BigBambiOn the targets where Rockbox has USB, it is MSC only
23:38:29asdfmonkeyah...
23:38:45BigBambiOn those where you use the OF for USB, you do it in the OF
23:38:45asdfmonkeythat sucks...
23:38:53BigBambiwhy?
23:39:06asdfmonkeybecause songbird only recognizes MTP
23:39:27asdfmonkeynd its a quick way to put it on my sansa looking nice
23:39:32BigBambiI would then suggest that songbird sucks

23:45:10amiconnn1s, kugel: No surprise here. Rockbox has no 64 bit file api, and that file is >2GB
23:45:17amiconnFAT32 allows up to 4GB. We'd need a 64 bit api although a 33 bit api would be enough....
23:45:26amiconnAt least some OFs do support up to 4GB though. I know that the H300 OF does (tested with a ~2.5GB WAV file, which plays in the OF but not in rockbox)
23:45:56kugelamiconn: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9838
23:46:25kugelmaybe you can comment on the fix I attached
23:47:22amiconnFile sizes need to be signed in the posix world, for 2 reasons. (1) Negative sizes as return values often mean errors (2) lseek() needs them for seeking relative to the current position (otherwise you couldn't seek back that way) and for seeking relative to the end of file
23:49:40kugelwhy does the size to be signed for seeking?
23:49:59kugelI imagine lseek uses a temp var or something, it cannot change size anyway
23:50:12kugelbut again, I'm not an expert
23:50:23amiconnRead the whole sentence...
23:50:31kugelI did
23:51:04kugelI don't see why you would need size to be signed to seek backwards
23:51:05amiconnYou need to be able to seek backward & forward. How would you do that when the parameter would be unsigned?
23:52:04kugelthe parameter isn't the size
23:52:33amiconnNo, it's the offset
23:53:07kugelyes, that must be signed
23:53:23kugelbut not the filesize?
23:54:34amiconnBut it's related to the size. And read() returns an ssize_t - and needs to be able to return positive values up to the size of the file (well, at least in theory) as well as negative values (for reporting errors)

23:57:16amiconnWe can, and probably want.
23:57:35kugelI guess long long would do it too?
23:57:44amiconnBut it's much more work than a single-spot fix. It means switching to a 64 bit file api
23:57:55kugelyes, sure
23:58:37kugelthen I'll leave it open
