00:04:23moosHi linuxstb, I get my beast back. Thanks to toffe82 here.
00:05:29hillshumWhere in the tree is the database manual source?

00:06:39hillshumwhere?

00:07:18hillshum(more specific?) it
00:07:22mooslinuxstb: I encountered a lot of times and in various attempts, this "File not found bug" in the past. Like I encountered it a lot, I noticed that when it occured, the OF missed tocreate some OF files and dirs system, those "contents" dirs. Then if those files/dir are missings, impossible to boot rockbox, with this annoying "file not found"
00:07:31hillshums in some subfolder
00:09:01mooslinuxstb: it's reliable. Now I encountered it again and passed it when i copied the 3 .inf files generated by the inf-wizzard on the 2nd partition.
00:09:29moosAnd the bug vanish at each attempt, then I supose that fixe it :)

00:13:38mooslinuxstb: don't know if that's comprehensible enough ;)

11:19:05MT_unisaratoga : It seems like the only way to use this patch is to go through the diff file and just keep copying whatever we're interested in. I've just tried a quick go at this and it's not as complicated as I thought. It would be even better because then I know what has been added or deleted which would make debugging a little bit easier
11:19:59MT_uniso I think first would be to just change the type declarations in COOKContext, compile and run.
11:21:25MT_uniand will just keep modifying the codec with as small number of changes at a time as possible to make it compile and run correctly.

11:28:33linuxstbMT_uni: Now might be a good time to prepare your first patch for Rockbox. It would add your code to SVN, but it wouldn't include it in an actual Rockbox build. There would just be a standalone test program to go with it (similar to "main.c" for the the FLAC decoder).
11:28:50 Part bodymind ("Ex-Chat")
11:29:09linuxstbIMO, it would be nice if the first version of the decoder you committed was as close as possible to ffmpeg's, so we can track the changes you make.

13:47:46Topy44(which is the main use for the player, i dont really need an mp3 player, i mostly have it for recording concerts)
13:48:07Topy44one question, years ago rockbox had a "recording history" feature
13:48:19Topy44that displayed the stereo field and the volume levels over time
13:48:21peturTopy44: I assume you're not recording loud concerts?
13:48:32Topy44petur, i do, why?
13:48:41peturTopy44: that's the REP
13:48:47Topy44yeah, exactly
13:49:07Topy44was it ever updated? i remember when i checked last it hasnt worked for ages
13:49:10BigBambiWhy not have e.g. %?pv<%xdMa|...|%xdMv|%xdMw|%xdMy|%xdMx|%xdMz|%xdNa|%xdNb|%xdNc|%xdNd|%xdNe>
13:49:20BigBambi@ Strife89
13:49:26peturI'm still busy changing the REP to include in SVN
13:49:35Topy44i patched it into the then-current x5 build, worked surprisingly well, including AGC
13:49:36Strife89BigBambi: Ah, okay.
13:49:43Strife89I'll try that, then.
13:49:48Topy44petur, aah, you were the autor of the REP?
13:49:57Topy44back then i started working on it myself
13:50:04BigBambiStrife89: I haven't tried, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work
13:50:11Topy44got it to a point where it worked for me and stopped :)
13:50:32Strife89BigBambi: Neither do I, now that you suggested it. :)
13:50:53BigBambihehe :)
13:51:01peturTopy44: no, it is a combination of a bunch of patches from various people. My parts are already in SVN ;)
13:51:20Topy44anyway, i really liked that feature, as its unique, not even "professional" recorders have anything compareable, especially the stereo field display is GREAT for aligning the mics
13:51:48Topy44btw: is the gain setting hardware or software? so... if i reduce the gain enough, will keep the hardware from clipping?
13:51:48peturhistogram is next and then maybe the recording timer...
13:51:57Topy44historgram, right, the word i was looking for :)
13:52:10peturgain = hardware
13:52:14Topy44great, thx
13:52:17peturpart analog, part digital
13:52:54Topy44btw... would it be possible to have an external peak-LED, connected to one of the remote pins? since there is a function to blink the remote display, but the remote display is rare (?) and i dont need it anyway
13:53:10Topy44but i could just build a cable with a nice bright LED on it and stick it somewhere visible
13:53:15peturbtw, for loud concerts I find the 3.7V plug power not enough, my mics are brickwalling. So I use an external mic amp (ST-9100 from church-audio)
13:54:17Topy44just 3.7v? hm... true, thats not really enough. i bought the soundprofessionals preamp together with the mics, but it stinks... batteries last long IN THEORY, but in real life it starts clipping when its not a brand new expensive brand name battery
13:55:05Topy44but since i never actually needed the preamp other then as a power supply i guess i could build a compact little power supply for them instead
13:55:06Lsswhat about those phantom power mics?
13:55:14Topy44what about them?
13:55:25Lssdo they have a similar issue?
13:55:33Lssclipping
13:55:35Topy44you cannot use them with plugin power
13:55:38Topy44so its a non-issue :)
13:55:48*petur feels this is drifting off-topic and suggests the other channel...

15:49:46LambdaCalculus37I've asked the libmtp mailing list for any ideas.
15:50:49linuxstbHave you seen the reply?
15:51:40 Join jon-kha [0] (i=jon-kha@kahvi.eu.org)
15:51:48LambdaCalculus37linuxstb: Yeah, he said to try this before I run configure: " export LDFLAGS=-framework\ CoreFoundation\ -framework\ IOKit\ -liconv"
15:51:49linuxstbGetting libusb building would seem to be the first step though, as libmtp relies on it.
15:52:07LambdaCalculus37linuxstb: Can't even get libusb to build.
15:52:15linuxstbI'm sure that's built for rbutil...
15:52:41linuxstbLambdaCalculus37: I know, but if you can't build libusb, you'll never build libmtp...
15:53:19linuxstbe200rpatcher uses libusb as well.
15:53:43LambdaCalculus37linuxstb: And of course, e200rpatcher doesn't build here as well.
15:53:50LambdaCalculus37So I'd better get on the libusb ML and ask.
15:54:31linuxstbAccording to the e200rpatcher readme, you should just be able to do "./configure" and "make" to build libusb. But I'm assuming that no longer works?
15:56:01LambdaCalculus37linuxstb: ./configure craps out; I have to retrieve the error message it gives again.

21:10:25bodymindsko, i think it's good
21:11:00skobodymind: ok, thank you
21:16:36GrahackHi guys, I'd like to talk about the picture in this section: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch7.html#x10-1260007.8. To me the moment when the crossfade starts is not well defined, except if you consider that (it's a guess) the track one ends when it's volume reaches zero. So to me, there should be the last horizontal blue line, since this track has stopped. What do you think ?
21:16:59kugelbodymind: the patch is nice?
21:17:36bodymindyes, i think the wheel is cool now
21:19:50LloreanDoes the acceleration for v2 work similar to on v1 e200s (from a user perspective)?
21:19:55*Llorean doesn't recall if those skip items.
21:20:27kugelit does yes
21:21:01kugelhowever, on v2 the skipping is more obvious since the the wheel is polled and not interrupt driven
21:21:31Lloreankugel: Are the rates the same, at least?
21:21:37kugel(i.e. the v1 skips less items, but does that way more often) the effective speed is about the same
21:21:59LloreanI'd rather limit the maximum speed, and reduce the skipping. Jumping larger amounts can make it easier to miss things.
21:22:15kugelI can only tell about the fuze though, i don't know how it is/will be exactly on the e200v2
21:22:48skounfortunately I can't compare it, because I have only a v2 and its my first rb-player
21:22:49kugelthe speed isn't limited. on no scrollwheels
21:23:34amiconnLlorean: How would you limit the scrollwheel speed? Modding it with an electronically controlled brake? ;)
21:23:35FlynDicegive me a couple of mins and I'll give you a third opinion on the e200v2.... nice break from mmu frustration
21:24:17Lloreanamiconn: Limit the maximum number of entries it can skip?
21:24:56kugellimiting isn't an option anyway. skipping items and being less accurate if you turn it really fast is the price for needing only 4 turns for a 1k items list
21:25:07amiconnThe only thing you can do against wheel readout hiccups when the wheel needs to be polled is polling faster
21:25:56Lloreankugel: Is it really necessary that you can go through a thousand items in four turns?
21:25:58 Nick flx_ is now known as flux (i=flux@jolt.modeemi.cs.tut.fi)
21:26:04JdGordon|sure
21:26:15LloreanShouldn't you just scroll up once?
21:26:29amiconnThe wheel acceleration in software is entirely unrelated
21:26:30LloreanOr divide your items up better?
21:26:36JdGordon|and if you're in the tracks listing in the db and have way more than 1k?
21:26:51kugelyes. and why shouldn't we do it if we can? you need to be quick like a crazy for this. You couldn't be accurate at this rate even without acceleration at all
21:26:51LloreanIf it's jumping 250 entries a turn by the end, it means you could have to spend as much time going back to the entry you missed as you spend going down there in the first place.
21:26:58amiconnLlorean: All tracks list in database? Nothing to divide there...
21:27:20kugelit's not skipping 250 items.....
21:27:24Lloreanamiconn: Personally, I don't see a use for all tracks, I guess. I know what's on my player and how to get to it quickly without every having to see a list of everything and scroll through it.
21:27:43Lloreankugel: Sorry, 250 per turn.
21:27:46LloreanMoving 250 that is.

21:28:59kugelhad a fuze*
21:29:03LloreanIt's the skipping I'm concerned about

21:30:03kugelnot at all
21:30:18amiconnLlorean: Well I don't even use the database at all for selecting music. That was just an example for a long list which cannot be divided
21:30:33skobodymind: i think its not possible, skipping rate is not that high at e200v2, or you must turn like crazy :D
21:31:16bodymindyeah.. :X LOL
21:31:40kugelsko: that's next to impossible. 250 items would mean repeat is 2000 or so

21:32:10kugelyea, no need for scrollwheel acceleration
21:32:19skokugel: the last patch uses the half of repeat, which gave the best results imo
21:32:39Lloreankugel: Okay, you said skipping only occurs at very rapid turn rates. Skipping != scrollwheel acceleration

21:36:10kugelI mean a full rotation
21:36:14 Join Lear [0] (i=chatzill@rockbox/developer/lear)
21:36:35LloreanSo you don't see "(2:29:26 PM) kugel: you need 2 turn times per second or so to even start skipping." as meaning "it requires 2 whole rotations of the wheel per second to cause skipping to start?"
21:36:45kugelwhether you did a full rotation or not doesn't matter though
21:37:21FlynDiceworks ok for me, need a long list to notice the skipping and the action seems reasonable to me.
21:37:40Lloreankugel: "2 whole rotations per second" is a speed.
