00:20:18BdN3504i sold my gigabeat f20 to a friend of mine who erased all of it's contents and now gets some error. when ´he tries to start the device up. i still have a rockboxed gigabeat f40 here with me and want to know if it is possible, that i send him my gbsystem folder, of if there are differences between the two bootloaders. will he brick his player if he puts on a f40 bl on a f20?
00:21:08toffe82BdN3504: F20 and F40 have the same gbsystem installed

06:23:46aikre all
06:23:54aikanybody online? =)
06:24:02krazykitdo you have a question?
06:24:42aikHow to restore the original loader iPod?
06:25:11scorche|share you asking how to uninstall rockbox?
06:25:40aikWhen I connect it to the computer, usb the disk does not appear. iTunes it does not see.
06:26:01scorche|shuse emergency disk mode
06:26:41aikHow it to use?
06:29:12aikAt loading there is an apple. But the original insertion is not loaded
06:30:53scorche|share you even using rockbox? said you installed ipodlinux in their channel...
06:31:10aikits true
06:31:45aikI did not say that put rockbox
06:32:19aikBut at me it seems it has turned out to enter in disk mode
06:34:01aikrockbox too is able to show video on nano?
06:35:44Lloreanaik: Rockbox has a manual describing its many features
06:35:49kkurbjunaik, yes it is, as far as I know ipodlinux does not have a video player that can play mpeg2 encoded files
06:39:24Unhelpfulkkurbjun: k... i fit lcd_blit_pal256 after the other blit functions, and lcd_set_mode and lcd_pal256_update_pal after lcd_set/get_drawmode
06:41:11kkurbjunwhat does lcd set/get_drawmode do?
06:41:17***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
06:41:39Unhelpfulset or retrieve the drawing mode... i didn't really see anything else that's quite like lcd_set_mode :/
06:41:59kkurbjunoh, like inverse or not inverse?
06:42:14Unhelpfulhm! you're right, that might be a more appropriate place.
06:42:51Unhelpfulmaybe update_pal should go after the blit functions?
06:43:01kkurbjunyeah, I think that would fit well there
06:43:23kkurbjunsorry, I didn't mean to suggest that they should go under inverse or not invers, I don't know what set/getmode do
06:43:59kkurbjunI mean, I know for hte m:robe, but I was thinking that if there are other functions with similar names maybe I should rename the hardware set mode function
06:44:36kkurbjunok, I see drawmod
06:44:47Unhelpfulwell, i think that setting the (hardware) invert on or off is much closer in function to lcd_set_mode than setting the (software graphics API) draw mode
06:45:03kkurbjunyeah, I agree
06:45:31aikAt me it has turned out to restore the original loader
06:45:41kkurbjunI was just worried that the set_mode function was too similar to the ones that you were referencing, but drawmode is distinguishing enough I think
06:45:58aikNow I try to installing rockbox
06:47:59Unhelpfulah, ok... i have lcd_blit_pal256 after all of the other blit functions now, lcd_pal256_update_pal right after it, and lcd_set_mode right after lcd_set_invert_display
06:48:15kkurbjunnice, that sounds good
06:48:25kkurbjunthanks for organizing those in there btw
06:48:41kkurbjunI need to add in the gigabeat lcd_set_mode functionality now too
06:49:07kkurbjundoom is ridiculous fast on the gigabeat with palette mode :-D
06:49:41aikwhen rockbox is installed, he deleting original soft of apple?
06:50:18kkurbjunaik, no, you can still boot into the apple firmware
06:50:29Unhelpfulkkurbjun: no problem, it seemed like i should, anyway - i changed the struct custom_format that the scalers use so that jpeg can do yuv->rgb after the scaler, rather than before.
06:50:45aikkkurbjun, how?
06:51:06kkurbjunUnhelpful: I gotcha
06:51:21saratogaaik: check the manual, its all in there
06:51:24kkurbjunaik, I think you hold the menu button, it might be in the manual, most stuff is in there

19:00:15toffe82the V is older than the T so if you think it works on the T it should work on the V

19:07:37mtsaratoga : fixed some warnings .. The rest of the warnings are insignificant, I think if I decrease the warning level a little bit they'd disappear. (it complains about stuff like things declared in headers and used only in .c's)

19:15:44LambdaCalculus37That's on the agenda for tonight.
19:15:53n1ssounds like a good plan

22:23:30soapThe current forum thread "Click wheel unresponsive" really makes no sense to me.
22:26:13soapLet's go out on a limb here... The ipod _mini_ 1st and 2nd generation have different keypads. ASSuming the question poster is incorrect and has a mini not a nano, would a 2nd gen Mini binary load on a 1st gen Mini?
22:26:46evilnick_230Probably worth checking with the user
22:27:08soapWhat if someone had made a franken-iPod with parts from first and second gen Minis? Would the apple firmware recognize the scrollwheel of a 2nd gen on the mainboard of a first gen?
22:27:26soapFor he claims the wheel works perfectly in the OF, but not in RB or IPL.
22:28:01evilnick_230That sounds plausible, but more unlikely, I'd say
22:28:17soapRight now my brain is in a rut and the only scenarios I can envision are where Apple makes less assumptions about what hardware is attached than RB / IPL - and I can only make that scenario work if it is indeed a mini...

22:34:55evilnick_230Maybe we should point him to the Apple page that shows what all the different models look like
