01:30:45charlotte2OMG, I am so very nearly there! Just a couple more hurdles! Nick, you here?
01:31:36n00b81|afkWhat, you hacked a Zune? :P
01:31:48charlotte2I loaded my 16GB microSDHC card into my Sansa c240 today, it recognized it instantly, and I loaded nearly 4000 songs from my computer.
01:32:00n00b81|afkcool
01:32:04 Nick n00b81|afk is now known as n00b81 (n=n00b81@unaffiliated/n00b81)
01:32:29*Hillshum doesn't see how this is on-topic
01:32:39charlotte2went to the root directory of the card, with shuffle on, and it started playing them in shuffle mode! Heaven!
01:32:40r0b-charlotte2 did u use rockbox to load te card?
01:32:59charlotte2r0b-: yes
01:33:07n00b81Well good for you :)
01:33:26charlotte2Only one slight problem... between one song and the next, it often pauses 5 or 10 sec!!!
01:34:03charlotte2Anybody got any ideas on how to fix that?
01:34:17Hillshumare the songs really over or is there just silence at the end of them?
01:34:37charlotte2they are really over... I ripped them myself, deleting any silence at the end
01:34:59HillshumWhat codec?
01:35:02charlotte2LAME
01:35:11Hillshum:/
01:35:52charlotte2(I've had them for many years)
01:36:14dzdoes the same thing happen if the files are loaded on the device?
01:36:19Hillshumno, I like LAME, just don't know what the problem is
01:36:57stripwaxIs it always the same tracks, or is it all of them always? (or even is it random when the pauses occur?)
01:36:58 Join saratoga [0] (i=9803c6dd@rockbox/developer/saratoga)
01:37:07charlotte2anyway, when playing them on WimAmp on my computer, they always play back-to-back... but playing them from my Sansa using Rockbox, there is this long pause, like the next song in queue is not buffering or something
01:37:25JdGordon|thats... backwards
01:37:26saratogado you have a lot of files in one directory?
01:37:41charlotte2it seems to be on *all* the tracks, but some pauses are longer than others
01:37:47 Quit Thundercloud (Remote closed the connection)
01:38:27charlotte2yes, I put them all in a single directory (the root), so I could just hit one and they would all suffle (about 4000 songs)
01:38:49saratogai think that causes poor performance reading from the disk
01:38:51 Join barrywardell [0] (n=barrywar@89.100.0.69)
01:38:54JdGordon|copy a few files into a folder and try playing that and see if that lag is there
01:38:59saratogaalthough if you turn on disk cache it might help
01:39:29JdGordon|c200 doesnt have a disk :)
01:39:31stripwaxsaratoga - this is sdhc. still the case?
01:39:32charlotte2ah, there's the rub... I was on here last night talking about that... I can't seem to enable disk cache
01:39:40dzcharlotte2: I've got mine sorted by directory and can still get them all in one playlist, shuffled
01:40:09stripwaxcharlotte2 (maybe c200 doesn't have the option, but...) settings, system, disk -> enable dircache?
01:40:27saratogastripwax: I think it has to do with our FAT32 driver (or maybe fat32 itself being slow), not hte disk type
01:40:46charlotte2yeah, every time I do that, it tells me to re-boot for the setting to take effect... but after I reboot and check it again, disk cache is still set to "no"
01:40:51 Part wincent_balin ("Kopete 0.12.7 : http://kopete.kde.org")
01:41:01stripwaxcharlotte2 - oh, hm.
01:42:06stripwaxcharlotte2 - same if you just turn the c200 off (e.g. wait for it to turn itself off), and then back on again?
01:42:36stripwax'reboot' here just means 'turn off in the usual turning-off-way, then turnon' rather than 'do a hardware reset'
01:42:41charlotte2haven't tried that... you mean just wait for it to auto power-down?
01:42:44saratogacan you change other settings in rockbox (like EQ, replaygain or anything else)?
01:42:49*stripwax doesn't know c200 hardware though
01:42:56stripwaxcharlotte2 - sure, give it a go
01:43:21r0b-charlotte2 what model is the microSDHC card?
01:43:41*stripwax dislikes the word 'reboot' in that message, can we change it to 'turn off and on again' or similar?
01:43:45charlotte2yeah, I just turned it off by holding the power button, it says "shutting down" for a bit, then switches off... I then hit the power button again to turn it back on
01:43:59charlotte2It's a Kinston card
01:44:13JdGordon|charlotte2: faster way is enable dirache... then turn off, connect to usb, make sure <disk>/.rockbox/config.cfg has a "dircache: on " line, add it if it doesnt, go back into rockbox
01:44:19r0b-hmmm thats odd because my kingston 4gig mIcroSDHC card has no issues
01:44:59r0b-although i use a e250
01:45:21stripwaxJdGordon - any idea why rockbox wouldn't save that setting when it switches off?
01:45:21charlotte2JdGordon|: Can I just edit the .cfg file in a text editor?
01:45:32saratogacorrupt file system comes to mind
01:45:49JdGordon|stripwax: no, unless its not a clean shutdown
01:45:58JdGordon|corrupt filesystem is very possible...
01:46:13charlotte2How do I fix a corrupt file system?
01:46:19Hillshumcharlotte2: A text editor that supports Unix style newlines is helpful
01:46:27 Part n00b81 ("Leaving")
01:46:36saratogacharlotte2: have you checked what either stripwax or I asked you yet?
01:46:38Hillshumscandisk or fsck or the like
01:46:48charlotte2not yet
01:46:52saratogaI'd rather not wait around all night for you to get back . . .

I have copied .rockbox (the e200v2 build) to data and I get that message. I cannot copy it to media because Windows will not copy since it thinks my MP3 player cannot play the files in .rockbox. What should I
03:19:04JdGordonyou should follow the instructions... .rockbox should go next to those folders.. not in data

18:39:16linuxstbThe Meizus have the S5L8700
18:40:00linuxstbAnd we've found slight differences between the 8700 and 8701 - e.g. the 8701 has the hardware AES engine, and at least the LCD controller is at a different memory address.

18:44:06bertrikLambdaCalculus37, if it doesn't say S5L8701 on the chip, how can you be sure?
18:44:40linuxstbThe 3G has "8702" marked on the chip, and "S5L8702" in the boot ROM
18:44:47linuxstbs/3G/Classic/
18:45:10linuxstbWe don't have the boot ROM from the 3G yet - the Classic's boot ROM (which has been partially dumped) contains that string.
18:45:17bertrikok, but the differences we're seeing could still be caused by it being some Apple-specific modified version
18:45:40LambdaCalculus37linuxstb: Didn't the nano2g mention anything about "8701" anywhere in the strings in the boot ROM?
18:45:49linuxstbbertrik: Or maybe the 8701 _is_ the Apple-specified version.
18:46:15linuxstbLambdaCalculus37: Yes - my first sentence to bertrik was regarding the nano2g.
18:47:04LambdaCalculus37bertrik: And it is indeed an 8701 in the nano2g, according to this picture: http://s2.guide-images.ifixit.com/igi/uu2vVMXnLZT1uFAI.large
18:47:53linuxstbLambdaCalculus37: I think bertrik's argument is that if it doesn't explicitly say "S5L8701" on the physical chip, it may not be.
18:48:19Hillshumlinuxstb: That pic shows "8701" on the chip
18:48:32linuxstbHillshum: I know, but not the "S5L" part.
