02:01:51kugelany chance we can get a minimum line height in the menus for touchscreen targets?
02:02:10kugelI would actually like smaller font but will be too small for most thumbs
02:02:15JdGordon|usual answer
02:02:20JdGordon|someone just needs to do the work
02:02:34JdGordon|linking the viewport line height to a different number than the font height shuold be doable
02:03:03JdGordon|drawing the text will be a bit more annoying though
02:03:08JdGordon|need to vertically center it
02:03:13kugelit should only apply in lists IMO, maybe we hook into the lists instead

02:03:30JdGordon|that will be alot harder
02:05:45kugelI'm not so sure
02:05:48pixelmachose a different default font and using a different font in the WPS might be a lot easie. The one problem I can see there is inclusion of said font

02:06:42 Quit sasquatch (Ping timeout: 258 seconds)
02:07:40pixelmaI don't mean sysfont actually. Just a different default font and some WPS which sets a second font
02:08:14kugelwith these huge font everything looks a bit crowded anyway, I find a small clearance between the lines would look nicer too
02:08:50kugelpixelma: I know, I meant I accidentally got sysfont and it was really troublesome to pick a normal font again
02:09:01pixelmathat depends on the font. It can include more spacing

02:20:37kugelah, that stupid scrolling engine :/
02:21:20kugelit's always limiting
02:21:38JdGordon|because I have the skin system on my brain, the idea I've been playing with in my head is setting up a viewport in the sbs which the list uses for each item
02:21:53JdGordon|but I just realised that wont make scrolling work either without some help

02:23:21JdGordon|yeah, but I'm talking about the skin each list item uses

02:25:59kugelhm, somehow my volume touch region doesn't use the full width
02:26:29JdGordon|can we disable volume changing from in rockbox? just leave that to the os?
02:28:12kugelfor what reason?
02:31:03JdGordon|well, no real reason I guess, just that accidentaly changing the rockbox volume sucks
02:31:15JdGordon|leave that on 0 and use the hardware buttons for volume control
02:34:51*kugel blames integer division
02:36:35S_a_i_n_tRegarding the font, is spacing between the lines the issue? Or am I missing something? Convbdf can be used to set that with relative ease.

07:37:07S_a_i_n_tbieber: "non-interactive"?
07:37:19bieberYeah
07:37:51bieberUp until now, if you had a WPS document that was also rendering elements from the SBS, you could grab and move/resize those elements
07:38:34S_a_i_n_tI'm not sure I understand how a WPS can render elements from an SBS
07:38:40bieberProblem is, that SBS rendering is kind of shoe-horned in, and editing those objects was screwing things up and segfaulting from time to time, and it really doesn't make sense to be able to change elements that aren't part of the current document anyways
07:39:06bieberThe SBS is the base of all skin documents, unless there's a %wd in there
07:41:46S_a_i_n_tright, yesh...I forget that sometimes, I always just use the .sbs to do what the fms wps rwps etc can't.
07:41:58S_a_i_n_tI forget it's possible to make an .sbs only theme.
07:42:19S_a_i_n_tIt would be interesting to try that actually...

13:29:41pixelmathere is some weirdness going on with the Iaudio remote WPSs as far as I can tell from an X5 sim. (1) the cabbiev2.rwps doesn't load and just shows an the built-in one but there is no error message. (2) the rwps only updates in certain cases except the track length and played time which updates correctly - the only way to make e.g. current title and artist etc. update is stop playback and resume, after that title etc. won't update anymore
13:38:56S_a_i_n_tpixelma: Have you tried sims for any other remote targets (are there any even? I have no idea)...is it just that one, or are all remotes affected?
13:43:25pixelmahaven't tried any other lcd remote targets yet. Sure there are others - the M5 uses the same remote and the Iaudio M3 also but the latter treats it as main screen. The Iriver H100 and H300 have lcd remotes too, also the M:Robes but I'm not sure if the latter are simulated yet.

16:54:36pamauryyes that's what I thought. Any thought on how to handle the formatting of the file ? Under linux that be done with a mix of fdisk/loopback/mkfs.vfat I think but under windows I don't how it could be done
16:54:45kugelpamaury: I think simulating this would only makes sense if it doesn't introduce a lot of extra code which doesn't run on target
16:55:00pamaurykugel: no extra code on target
16:55:23kugelright, the extra code is not on target
16:55:31kugelthat's what I mean
16:55:50kugelwe want to simulate code which runs on target, hence we should keep the non-target code at a minimum
16:55:53pamauryit's mostly a matter of #ifdef hell and implementing the right functions, it adds no code unless for compile support for it
16:56:32kugelso it would be disabled by default?
16:57:42pamauryFor now there are two majors changes: 1) the init() of hosted target gets more complicated (more like the target one) 2) implemente {sd,ata,mmc}_* functions. I think so yes. My code depends on an extra define ROCKBOX_SIMULATE_STORAGE_LAYER which would be disabled by default
16:57:46gevaertsI'd imagine it mainly being a file-backed storage driver (similar to my loopback patch, except it would use host IO functions of course), and preprocessor logic to make it use that and not the host filesystem
16:58:46kugelit also shouldn't make the sim a pain to work with (e.g. for themers)
16:59:14gevaertsThat's why it would include samba.rock :)
16:59:16*gevaerts runs
16:59:31*pamaury kills the running gevaerts
16:59:55*gevaerts happens to be blocked on stuck IO, so he can't be killed
17:00
17:00:33pamaurywhen running from a file as storage, it makes it more difficult to update the content of the disk, because you need to mount the file, make the changes, unmount,... Except if you compile usb simulation in and simulate usb device to update the simulated hard disk of the simulated device :)

21:13:12TheSeven[21:02] TheSeven wonders if it's possible to rework the rockbox file system code in such a way, that:
21:13:12TheSeven[21:02] <TheSeven> - it doesn't do unaligned storage accesses
21:13:12TheSeven[21:02] <TheSeven> - has an unlimited number of open files (struct space provided by caller)
21:13:12DBUGEnqueued KICK TheSeven
21:13:12TheSeven[21:02] <TheSeven> - the only static buffers are the fat cache
21:13:12TheSeven[21:02] <TheSeven> - it never places sector buffers on the stack
21:13:13***Alert Mode level 1
21:13:13TheSeven[21:06] <TheSeven> i agree that we need a single sector buffer per file or directory, and the lfn buffer for directories. but do we really need the other buffers?
21:14:25gevaertsTheSeven: wouldn't tat actually increase the number of buffers?
21:15:17TheSeveni'm not sure about that. having a pool might allow some overcommitment, but i'm caring more about the other points
21:15:58gevaertsIf you have a pool, I don't see the point of putting the file data at the caller side

21:16:45midijunkiethere is nobody who got the rockbox.apk for a 800*480 screen?
21:16:48TheSevenactually what bugs me most are those on-stack buffers
21:17:40gevaertsYes, I suspected that :). Getting rid of that is worth some effort, but I think the other points don't give any advantage
21:19:08TheSevenwell, the other points (besides the unlimited number of files one) are probably met automatically if we kill the on-stack buffers

21:26:16Tornefor small accesses when the cpu is idle there is literally no difference using dma on pp502x

22:19:53pixelmayes, on the X5. It seems to have to do with the fact that the X5 can have %Vb and %Vf on target and remote but the depending on the screen, the following number is different - main screen is colour and needs a hexadecimal value, remote screen is greyscale and needs a single digit in the range 0-3 for a grey shade.
