03:24:53LloreanNobody's mentioned working on it.
03:24:57LloreanAt least, not that I've seen.
03:25:47Ronj75got a sansa e250R that is stucked on the logo screen on bootup.. i can get into recovery mode. but everything ive tried its the same result *btw oem fw not rockbox. yet*
03:27:12saratogai think the sansa.fmt trick works on that, have you tried it?
03:28:38Ronj75tried that, the bootloader rom, . everything on the e200 unbrick wiki
03:28:55Ronj75except for booting into linux i was hoping to get it fixed without that lol
03:29:08saratogathat probably won't help if you can get into recovery mode
03:29:28saratogathe whole point of e200tool is to get into recovery mode, if you're already there and can't fix it, then its probably not helpful
03:30:01saratogai can't remember if the e200r is different then the e200 regular though
03:30:26Ronj75if i tried to just put the e250 fw *not e250R* would it possibly fix it? or brick it worse?
03:30:50saratogait'll reject a non-R firmware unless you patch it first with e200tool I think
03:30:58Ronj75ahh
03:31:05saratogabut you can convert it into an e200
03:31:17saratogamight be worth digging up instructions for that and see if any of them look promising
03:31:30Ronj75i tried the official fw, and the one from the daniel.haxx.se site
03:32:12Ronj75and tried to redo the bootloader
03:32:16saratogaSynthbox: it wouldn't be useful on our currently supported player anyway, none of them are fast enough for any of the mpeg4 codecs to have an advantage over mpeg1/2
03:50:09SynthboxSaratoga maybe but stuff always evolve so does code ;)
03:50:47Synthboxbugfixes n stuff forced lower res view etc
03:51:08saratogaSynthbox: i don't understand what you're asking?
03:51:54SynthboxMean , mp4 , avi , divx wmv and whatevers out there , could be a nice plus
03:52:31saratogaI don't think you understood my reply
03:52:39Synthboxespecially when we got bigger screen players n stuff
03:52:47saratogaI'm saying theres no use in supporting them on current players, but maybe on future ones
03:52:54Synthboxoh cool

03:53:51Synthboxwhat happens if u control the electricity the blue leds are getting on say Sansa stuff
03:54:13Synthboxso they get very little less , can they change colour?
03:54:26saratogano
03:54:49Synthboxhas that been tried?
03:54:49saratogaand I don't think you can control the voltage on the sansas anyway
03:55:00Ronj75the led is a single color cant change that
03:55:19Synthboxya but when it gets less power
03:55:25Synthboxu get other colour
03:55:45saratogano
03:55:50saratogathats not how LEDs work
03:56:05saratogathe color is fixed for a given semiconductor composition
03:56:46SynthboxSo in theory
03:56:49Ronj75less power means dimmer not diff color
03:56:53Synthboxits impossible?
03:57:02saratogayes its impossible
03:57:12Ronj75can you change the color of your light bulb just by changing the wattage?
03:57:20saratogain the future, if you want to know how something not related to rockbox works, just check google
03:57:37Synthboxsure man
03:59:02Synthboxabout the fonts btw
03:59:13Synthboxsay i have a song in russian , and other one in Hangul
03:59:19Synthboxbut tunes in english too
03:59:31Synthboxhows that issue solved?
04:00
04:02:52LloreanWhat issue?
04:03:07LloreanIf your font has all those characters, it's not a problem.
04:07:34SynthboxOh ok ä
04:07:48Synthboxi need to make one?
04:08:24Ronj75hmmm im wondering if i should just say screw it and try to put rockbox on this sansa and see if it fixes the boot issue
04:08:58DemonXiPod Nano 4GB 1stG: Rockbox only works when the device is cold
04:10:33LloreanSynthbox: Or just choose one of the many fonts we have, selecting for one that fits your need...
04:11:11LloreanDemonX: What sort of help are you looking for exactly? Rockbox can't refrigerate your device to keep it cool.
04:11:39DemonXLlorean: I am trying to get Rockbox to work decently on my Nano
04:12:06DemonXI had it on my Sansa Clip, which I loved, and I traded that for this Nano hoping I could put rockbox on it too
04:12:15LloreanIf your device has physical issues such as not performing well when warm, there's not really anything to be done...
04:12:23DemonXOF works fine
04:12:39DemonXI read a thread (from 3 yrs ago) from someone else reporting the same phenominon
04:13:40LloreanUnless you're using a 3 year old build, that thread is hardly relevant.
04:14:45LloreanIf there is a problem with temperature, it's something now unique to your player. Which means, basically, that you'll have to track down what the issue is.
04:14:50DemonXI see your point, but none-the-less I cannot use current builds without it being cooled, and it shouldn't be a hardware problem because OF works fine
04:15:12DemonXand I was trying to compile a much older build mentioned in the thread but I'm having trouble compiling the ARM toolchain
04:15:36Llorean"The OF works fine" doesn't mean there's nothing wrong with the hardware.
04:15:49LloreanIt just might mean that the basic OF functionality doesn't hit that problem as easily.
04:16:39LloreanMy computer had bad RAM but only one application out of the dozens I had on it would ever crash. It took me ages to determine the RAM was causing it. I swapped out one stick, and everything's fine now, but if I'd never used that one program, I'd have never even known something was wrong.
04:16:52Ronj75heh too bad rockbox wont work on my fake nano
04:17:05DemonXIt performs fine reading and writing at high speeds while transferring to the computer and plays music fine as well
04:17:20DemonXI can run apple's diagnostics for the drive too, I'll do that as we speak
04:17:44LloreanDrive diagnostics wouldn't necessarily tell you much if it's the CPU or RAM that are performing poorly when warm.
04:18:26DemonXIf it was the CPU or RAM, then why would it be reporting "Partition not found"?
04:18:41LloreanWell, you didn't mention that.
04:18:55saratogaso when its cold the partition appears?
04:19:11DemonXroom temp, doesn't work, says partition not found.
04:19:51DemonXcooled slightly, takes forever to start up, bg is corrupt, reports .rockbox is not found, install incomplete, but GUI works
04:19:59saratogaso some kind of disk problem
04:20:02DemonXno data can be accessed, plugins crash it
04:20:10saratogayou're not going to be able to fix that
04:20:10saratogajust get a new player
04:20:15DemonXfrozen for 5min, it works excellent
04:20:24DemonXand if it cools while it's still on, it's fine
04:20:42saratogathough i guess its worth asking which bootloader and build you've got on it in case its some ancient broken one
04:21:03DemonXI ran it from the installer 2 days ago
04:21:34saratogatime to get a new player then
04:22:14DemonXI'd like to get the ARM toolchain working and see if an old build works
04:22:43DemonXfrom what I read on the forums, the thread was closed reporting that the answer was no because people kept spamming the same questions
04:22:59saratogago for it
04:23:19saratogabut IIRC that problem was fixed years ago
04:23:25saratogaso an older build is probably less likely to work
04:23:48DemonXok
04:24:03DemonXits still worth a try (I have nothing better to do)

12:12:08AlexPThere is also a section for it on the theme site

20:43:25bertrikSamuel, did you call lcd_update()?

20:43:53Samuelits a standalone programm

20:44:59Samuelonly for video
20:46:25gevaertsSamuel: have you considered basing this on the rockbox bootloader? Then you'd have all initialisation done, working lcd, and no threads to get in your way

21:46:37amiconnmaraz: Would be interesting to gather ATA identify info from those problematic nanos, as well as others not showing the problem for comparison?
21:47:02amiconnMaybe it's a certain series of those cf chips which don't like (U)DMA
21:47:32amiconnIf we find out which, we could selectively disable DMA at runtime on the problematic devices only

22:23:58AlexPeither wipe or swipe is fine
22:24:08AlexPswipe has perhaps the idea of being a little more vigorous
22:26:54kugelswipe is very common when it comes to touchscreens as I see it

22:38:08notlisteningbluebroth3r, domonoky. what is happening with the rbutil development now.. I have just seen a release but who is working on it...?
22:38:33bluebroth3rBagder: can you move those files to the download server? http://www.alice-dsl.net/dominik.riebeling/rockbox/rbutil-releases/1.2.8/
22:39:36bluebroth3rnotlistening: well, not much happened. The new release is mostly to catch up with recent bootloader changes (especially mkamsboot afaik)
22:40:17bluebroth3rI'm still planning to do development, but I'm somewhat limited on time these days
22:40:39notlisteningOh okay well, given some time I would like to give it a go aswell
22:40:52Bagderbluebroth3r: will do sir!
22:41:28bluebroth3rI wouldn't have made a release just for the changes done to Rockbox Utility itself. But given that there have been requests a couple of times recently because of bootloader issues ... well, it doesn't hurt :)
22:42:16*bluebroth3r just rebuilt Qt 4.7.0 for Linux to discover afterwards that he didn't build it statically so the Linux binary uses the old Qt version. D'oh!
22:42:17notlisteningNot at all
22:42:47Bagderbluebroth3r: done!
22:42:56bluebroth3rhopefully I'll find some time to rework the autodetection code to make it more reliable. And rework the UI to make it simpler to use.
22:42:59bluebroth3rBagder: thanks!

23:34:45pixelmacan someone have a look at the image tags part in http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/CustomWPS?raw=on and tell me what "<label>" should be used for? It seems like it is used to indicate that this is something the user has to specify but due to being "<label>" foswiki interprets it as html code it doesn't know about, this simply doesn't appear on the resulting page. The thing confusing me is that there also is a "</label>"
23:35:40pixelmathe <literal></literal> was put there deliberately in case there are | that should appear on the page that would otherwise be interpreted as column separators in foswiki
