14:24:51pixelmamanual builds but the "Target Has A Touchscreen?" is a bit weird though - it gets an own section which is understandable as it is all different to the other touchscreen tags but doesn't look right. I also don't like this wording in a headline, it's very "everyday language". And as I said, the section will only show up in touchscreen target manuals. My suggestion is to start a "Hardware Capabilities" (or similiar) chapter and put it there together
14:24:52pixelmawith the "RTC present" tag which is also weird because currently you get an "RTC Tags" chapter on non-RTC targets just for that
14:25:13kugel2I think it would be better to create a stock View until RockvoxFramebuffer is ready

14:26:21S_a_i_n_tOn the subject of manuals, I think having theme tag listing being target specific is stupid...each manual should contain a full listing of theme tags IMO
14:26:36AlexPpixelma: At the top I think
14:26:49S_a_i_n_tThe reader may want to make a theme for another device, or have it be compatible with many.

14:28:31JdGordonwell it is
14:28:40AlexPJdGordon: I don't actually have a strong opinion on whether the tags should be there or not, but while they are keeping them up to date is good :)
14:28:48AlexP(there = in the manual)
14:28:50JdGordonI suggested ages ago we generate the help text for the tags from a common text file and was yelled down
14:29:04AlexPI don't remember that
14:29:10kugelJdGordon: you added an explicit 'new RockboxFramebuffer()'
14:29:20JdGordonshit did I? which file?
14:29:41kugelin the service
14:29:47pixelmaI also think the manuals could have all tags for all targets but maybe with a marking of ones that are not possible or only in a certain way (e.g. viewport "colours"), that means going through all of it and add stuff...
14:29:47S_a_i_n_tIIRC I suggested making the theme tags section not target specific and there was mixed opinion leaning toward "good idea", but nothing came of it.
14:29:59kugelyour redo commit hasn't undone that

14:36:38kugel2JdGordon: I assume this code works because you call the inherited constructor and don't use the RockboxFramebuffer specific bits (so its actually a stock view)
14:37:35kugel2RockboxFramebuffer subclasses View which you need to display stuff

18:53:42slatercould someone take a look at a shell script. i have posted it in the forum under the following url:
18:56:48S_a_i_n_tslater: My guess is that there's quite a few IRC channels that could offer bettor (and not offtopic) support for .sh scripts
18:58:01slaterwell ok anyway thanks

19:00:20pixelmaAFAIU this had something to do with a started port of Rockbox, though I don't understand exactly what this scroipt has to do with it
19:00:39pixelmaa script too

21:21:13n1sTheSeven: by lds script black magic, i think
21:21:35*TheSeven can't find that black magic
21:21:40amiconnNot really black magic. Just overlapping sections
21:21:46n1sbasically those secions are overlapped with other sections that are not loaded with anything
21:21:49TheSevenit appears to not be implemented at all on nano2g IIUC
21:22:13amiconnThe code has to make sure that use of section A has finished before use of section B starts
21:22:16TheSeventhis can't possibly work if .init.text is *before* .text, can it?
21:22:23amiconn(if A and B overlap, obviously)
21:23:17amiconnOn SH1 .iram (.icode+.idata+.iconst) overlaps the main stack
21:23:30TheSevencan you have a look at
21:23:37TheSeveni don't see anything overlapping there
21:23:58amiconnSince on other targets we have the main stack in iram itself, we usually overlap .bss
21:33:54***Saving seen data "./dancer.seen"
21:39:32TheSevenamiconn: can you name any target where this definitely works, so that I can compare?
21:39:54n1sTheSeven: yes, it seems the nano2g doesn't overlap iram with anything else
21:40:08n1sit's easy to see in the file
21:40:14TheSevenalso init.text, same issue
21:40:57TheSevenhow can i make two sections overlap?
21:41:12amiconnI mentioned one already
21:41:37TheSevenjust by saving and restoring "." to some symbol, or is there a more elegant way?
21:42:02TheSevenamiconn: you mean
21:44:14TheSeveni can't spot anything there either
21:44:45TheSevenoh, the address specification in the .stack section, right
21:45:14amiconnlines 92..103
21:45:44amiconnMost files have similar mechanisms for different sections
21:46:06n1sthe _noloaddram thing
21:47:05amiconnOh, and btw, .init.text goes to the start of the .text destination section. The section for disposable init code seems to be .init

22:07:19sgh1that hasn't solved my problem :/ (white screen on Sansa Fuze v1)
22:07:52sgh1well I'm using Linux now and I'd like to try the linux method
22:08:32sgh1anyway I don't know which excerpt of my dmesg is the right one for figuring out where my Fuze is
22:11:32alexbobPcount yourself lucky... my fuze has a white screen with a technicolor line shooting across it
22:11:40alexbobPas you might guess it's not a software issue :/
22:12:02alexbobP(okay, maybe not so much "lucky" as "smart enough not to roll your chair over your player")

22:24:21n1ssgh1: the linux way of fixing fat filesystems is fsck.vfat
22:24:56n1sbut foolklore has it windows tools are slightly better at actually fixing broken filesystems
22:26:29sgh1I guess thats due to the fact that many devices use FAT filesystem :D
22:26:58sgh1wodz told me to "run as root mkfs.vfat -a -w /dev/sdX"
22:27:12sgh1thats a different thing then
22:27:17n1sthat will reformat the partition
22:27:51sgh1I'll check out both things then
22:28:17tmzt_android has a dosfsck that might be better, you could try building it
22:28:29n1sif you format the partition there's no point in trying to fsck it
22:30:45sgh1well I guess reformating is more likely to solve that problem and more easier and faster than to build the dosfsck
