13:21:57amiconnn1s, Buschel: If performance on coldfire goes down when moving code to iram, this does definitely not come from iram itself
13:22:59amiconnIt's rather that by moving code to iram, the functions remaining in dram move to different addresses relative to each other, which may affect caching
13:23:51amiconnThe coldfire instruction cache is direct mapped, that's why this effect can be quite noticeable
13:24:15amiconnThat said, coldfire profits much more from moving data to iram rather than code

13:39:01JdGordonwhich is why scrolling is snafu :)

15:08:22amoeanyone know if rockbox works on the Sandisk Fuze+ models? they seem to be new, don't know if they are different from the fuzev2.

15:09:30taodihright after starting up checksum would be 399A9A9 if that would be any help
15:09:56soaptaodih, what? where? You've lost me.
15:11:06taodihright after unplugging and the ipod would restart (black background with silver apple logo , when booting up)

21:59:43cmdbbqi have an old sansa e280 (e200 series v1) with an old version of rockbox on it. i want to revert to the stock firmware, so the device boots into that by default. i have no desire to revert to the original bootloader or whatever, i just want it to boot into sansa firmware by default. i remember doing this before, but not how. I think it just involved moving a file so it could not be found, but i do not remember. can anyone help?

22:00:41JdGordonI've rebuilt the dynamic screen size rockbox.apk so it copies the theme stuff onto the sdcard instead of flash, drops the disk usage from 40MB to 15MB (which is probably still too large). jdgordon.info/rockbox/rockbox.apk">http://jdgordon.info/rockbox/rockbox.apk uninstall or clear rockbox's data to reclaim the space
22:07:03JdGordonanyone who downloaded the apk last night should reget it anyway, I left in so it always unzips the rockbox.zip which is a bit crap

23:20:30Buschelwow, r28531 had only minor effect on PP502x but quite large effect in S5L870x -> ~7% faster

23:32:27amiconnAlso, doesn't r28532 make the plain C version slower, or is y always a constant (and the >>3 merged in at compile time)?
23:34:33Buschely is always a constant and >>3 is done at compile time
23:37:36amiconnOn armv6(+) you can save one more cycle (and a scratch reg) by replacing smull -> smmul
23:38:05Buschelyes, but I cannot test as I do not have an armv6+
23:38:13amiconnHowever, this code is sub-optimal on armv6 because of the mul result latency
23:38:33Buschelyes, there are some possible optimization in the synthesis asm

23:39:21Buscheldamn, too many typos.... should better get some sleep
23:39:47amiconnThat's a general problem with longer asm blocks. Different arm versions need different scheduling for best performance
23:46:14Buschelif anyone finds time to test libmad with http://pastie.org/1280189 vs. svn on a non-PP ARM target, this would be fine :) I would like to avoid damaging any performance before submitting
23:50:30n1salso libmad is dualthreaded on pp so an optimization has to help the thread doing the most work for it to show up IIUC

23:57:12Buscheln1s: r28532 sped up PP502x by 0.25 MHz. This is nearly identical the theoretically expected max gain (2 channels * 44100 samples * 2.5 cycles per sample)
23:58:10Buscheln1s: the effect on the S5L is much bigger −− don't ask me why...
