08:07:53Buschelfunman: your submit r30510 is not a good idea. the m4a seek tables (required for playback, not only for ssek) need lots of RAM to be able to play long duration files −− we are speaking of several hundred KB. additionally SBR decoding allocates ~128 KB for data when such file is decoded (SBR+PS allocates ~161 KB) −− you can check this when compiling with FAAD_STATIC_ALLOC
08:10:06 Quit bluefoxx (Quit: bluefoxx)
08:10:40Buschelfunman: with your change sansa clip (CODEC_SIZE = 0x48000) will not even be able to play AAC-HE SBR, but you shave off ~50 KB of RAM (binsize increase) that could be used for m4a tables
08:12:17Buschelfunman: either you shou,d roll back this change or at least find a new CODEC_SIZE above which you enable SBR_DEC, but not PS_DEC.

12:06:14JdGordongevaerts: have you actually got a tag which would make sense to use as the start index for %ss?
12:07:12gevaertsJdGordon: not really. I was toying with the idea of making text be "written" slowly as the track progresses, but I don't think I can make that look good anyway
12:07:59gevaertsi.e. using %px for the length
12:08:05JdGordonwont that look absolutly terrible?
12:08:15gevaertsVery probably, yes

12:35:07JdGordonkugel: gevaerts: did the idea of passing a void* data to the move/shrink callbacks ever come up?
12:38:08kugelJdGordon: I had that idea shortly, but it wasn't needed and would just increase the handle metadata
12:39:37JdGordonby 4 bytes
12:40:01JdGordonI think the only sane way of putting fonts in buflib is going to require it
12:40:51kugelwhat do you want to put there?
12:41:05JdGordonthe sturct font *
12:41:47JdGordonbecause of the very likely disk access during font_* i need to know if a given font is locked or not, and doing a lookup through the font array to find the handle the callback is from is going to be slow
12:42:05kugelyou can put that pointer into the alloc
12:42:42JdGordonthe first 4 bytes of the alloc?
12:42:49JdGordonhmm, yeah thats pretty nasty though
12:42:52kugelor the last
12:43:03kugelI don't find that nasty
12:45:30JdGordonThough, putting the actual sturct font on the buffer would mean we only need to store the handle id array statically
12:46:38JdGordonand if we use the font filename as the buflib name we can refcount fonts like I'm doing for the skin fonts properly
12:46:59JdGordonfont.c stil scares me, though I have beer in the fridge, so here we go!
12:47:34JdGordonany obvious issues with putting sysfont and uifont buffers on buflib instead of having them static?
12:48:03kugelhow do you mean the refcount thign?
12:48:29gevaertsJdGordon: if sysfont isn't static, you can't panic properly if buflib fails to allocate it? (or am I misunderstanding you?)
12:48:31JdGordonif the same font is loaded twice we dont want to actually have it in ram twice
12:48:57kugelsysfont should be static IMO
12:49:04JdGordongevaerts: true, ok
12:49:21kugelbut I understand that it means separate font handling
12:50:14kugelJdGordon: the alloc name doesn't mean "only one with this name may exist"
12:50:27JdGordonI know
12:50:41JdGordonbut if I'm keeping an array of font handles I can check just those allocs
12:51:28JdGordonI tihnk sysfont is handled completly differently anyway
12:52:30kugelUI font should be buflib only if it makes sense, i.e. if the buffer isn't constant size anymore
12:54:04JdGordonI think putting it in buflib will make the code cleaner
12:54:09JdGordoninstead of special casing
12:54:46JdGordonthe difference between ui and sysfont is that sysfont is fully in ram guarenteed
12:55:50kugelwell, should be easy enough to at least alloc MIN(font_size, current buffer size)
12:56:50JdGordonallocating is the easy bit, the hell comes from when the font doesnt fit in ram and we need to know if the buffer is a buflib handle or a static array
12:57:02JdGordonif it is always buflib its simple
12:57:38JdGordonI'm still not 100% sure that lru and fontcache wont kill this though
12:59:01kugelyou can do a struct { union { void* buf; int handle }; bool is_buflib }
12:59:13kugelI think I did that with the tagcache uniqbuf
12:59:33kugelah no, removed that again because the uniqbuf could be static
13:00:40JdGordonas the arch at work would say... "that's pants"
13:09:56JdGordonfont_get() is used extensivly :/

14:11:07rtr54g7Any interest in porting the LuaJit interpreter? I might give it a shot. Don't know if it supports the CPU, but it gets pretty impressive speedups even without JIT. And it implements the full spec.

14:12:15rtr54g7Oh, I was thinking in terms of my player. Maybe I'll take on porting it a little later on when I'm more familiar with C.
